Deadlifts require good form and thus time between reps.

I went from 135x5 to 315x1 in three months by doing 1x5 deadlifts once a week so it works

Because it's a beginner program and absolute beginners can't handle anything other than low volume deadlifting.

I will never understand the butthurt around SS. It's literally designed for absolute beginners to gain strength as fast as possible. That's it. In my experience it achieves its stated goal admirably.
