Sony knows it won't lose COD to Xbox exclusivity

windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/sony-knows-it-wont-lose-call-of-duty-to-xbox-exclusivity-heres-what-its-really-about

>Sony's goal is to reduce and hinder competition
>Sony implied that the deal would "harm gamers," which is ironic given its focus on buying up exclusivity deals across mountains of other games in recent years, but we'll get into that later.

>Sony isn't losing Call of Duty, it's losing its ability to obfuscate
>It makes zero business sense for Microsoft to remove Call of Duty from PlayStation given its market leading console position." Sony knows this. We all know this. The UK regulator may be too dumb to know this
>Sony's business strategy has long revolved around killing Xbox, but the company has ramped up on that even further in recent years, deploying subtle and not-so-subtle strategies to obfuscate the Xbox platform, and seed doubt in Microsoft's operation.
>Sony has been cornering an entire genre with fighting games exclusivity since it bought up Street Fighter V, while also restricting cross-play on games that weren't exclusive

>Sony isn't afraid of losing Call of Duty exclusivity. They aren't even afraid of losing occasional pieces of content to Call of Duty. What they're afraid of is gamers getting better value with Xbox Game Pass. They're afraid of losing the ability to dictate the rules over how gaming operates.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY want this to go into a deeper prove cause now sides have to present numbers and not just PR statements.
Microsoft can easily argue they have a history of keeping monolithic games multiplat (Minecraft)
That if, IF anything losing CoD is not a death sentence (Nintendo)
and that Sony is just afraid of losing not the game but their 1 sided deal and grip, like the one they have on the Cross-Play Tax on Fortnite.

Honestly I don't see how anyone can try and pass regulations against certain game exclusivity. What is the law going to be every game that sells more than a million units the dev team has to out of pocket make a port for every other system? Last I checked the switch doesn't get call of duty

Ill assume there is a difference between
>We dont see it financially viable to make this game for X or Y
and
>X paid us to not make this game for Y

CoD will go exclusive day 1 of the deal closing.
Everything Microsoft is saying is pure public theatre to make sure the deal closes.

>Winblows Central
lolmao

Pretty fucked up the last of us wasn't on xbox

>It makes zero business sense for Microsoft to remove Call of Duty from PlayStation
It makes zero business sense to pay over $70,000,000,000 on Activision/Blizzard and keep the status quo. That's more money than Xbox has even had revenue in its entire 20 year existence, let alone profit. Here's what's going to happen:

Microsoft are going to give Sony 3 more years of CoD, then they need to renew their contract in order to get this past regulators and get the deal to go through. Their terms in any contract beyond that will be put Gamepass on PS4 and PS5 or no CoD. Sony will of course say fuck no and Microsoft will start taking all of their future Activision/Blizzard games away from Playstation just like they're already going to start making future Bethesda games Xbox and PC only.
In the mean time, CoD will be $70 on Playstation consoles, or be included day 1 in a Gamepass subscription. That will cause all those CoDfags that don't have a new console yet to get an Xbox instead of a Playstation while also growing Gamepass subscribers.

Microsoft did not pay all that money to prop up Microsoft gaming studios only to put all their games on Playstation. They also didn't just spend $80,000,000,000 on multiple studios to prop up Gamepass with any intention beyond turning vidya into a subscription only model where they control the source of all games.

ill pretend you are just retarded.

Nigger, did I stutter?
There is a difference between, not wanting to make a port and being paid to not make a port.

Who is bank rolling Sony to not port Last Gays to Microsoft?

Sony is.

>t makes zero business sense to pay over $70,000,000,000 on Activision/Blizzard and keep the status quo
When Microsoft bought minecraft they kept it multi plat.

Also, Sony keeping the game is not Status Quo, All the back door deals and fees is the real status Quo and is what Sony is more afraid to lose.
100% Microsoft could demand lower (WAY LOWER) than the average 30% Royalties to Sony and tell them to shove their CrossPlay Tax up their ass.
Microsoft can also just play it reverse and use "1st on Xbox" that Sony been doing.

NTA Nowhere did you say want retard. You said
>we don't see financial viablilty

Minecraft is a single continually updating title. Microsoft offered sony 3 years after current deals. Meaning that's when they will re evaluate. probably won't be a scene on ps5 at that point when the games are selling for 70 while they are 'free' on xbox.

They're going to demand nothing short of putting Gamepass on Playstation. There's nothing they want more, and having Microsoft console exclusives that huge will have a ton of sway with normalfag gamers. Normalfags that move to Xbox instead of Playstation means that Microsoft gets a 30% cut of every game sale from them instead of Playstation, and it means they can push them on to Gamepass.
Microsoft absolutely will not keep CoD on Playstation long term. Starfield is already confirmed Xbox and PC only after Microsoft bought them and made them drop PS5 after that deal made it past regulators. Before then they were very vague and wishy-washy about their games being on multiple platforms. There's already precedence for what I'm saying is going to happen.

Not for nothing but I'll still side with sony buying timed DLC and exclusive content over ms buying studios outright.

Everything's all fucked though and frankly I don't see a way the gaming environment works out going forward.

>It makes zero business sense for Microsoft
Even if it costs money, M$ can easily absorb the hit to get customers to switch platforms.
Meanwhile, for sony, losing cod is basically webm related.

Retarded article. We already know that microsoft offered only three more years of cod and then it's gone from playstatio

Both are evil shits, but il take the sony brand of evil shit since they are taking time killing the industry, while Microsoft is super aggressively trying to kill it as fast as possible.

user, it's literally illegal to have in perpetuity contracts.
They get basically an extra three years from the end of the current contract, and then a new contract would have to be negotiated.

You stupid fucking snoy.

There was no mention of three years before Sony started trying to appeal to every supreme court in the civilized world to stonewall the deal.
You talk shit, you get hit.

Sony dabbing on Microshit.

Fucking based.

its the same shit, Sony simply dont have the pocket to buy the whole studios/ IP, renewing the "not on Xbox" contract was cheaper and it worked till this gen when Microsoft decided to take off the kid gloves.

Timed exclusives will literally always be preferable to actual exclusives, I'd rather one company get first dibs than risk having games deleted from history because they decided to not support something going forward

>Meanwhile, for sony, losing cod is basically webm related.
Again, if it goes into Prove, its not longer PR words, both companies will have to back it with numbers.
Sony is on the loosing side here cause we have a case example of a company not having CoD and still thriving as fuck

How the fuck do none of you retards not realize that timed exclusives can hurt an opposing console' s sales of copies?! People do not fucking wait for stuff anymore (especially zoomers) and they will literally buy into what is currently available. Sony has literally been doing this for years and are not happy that microsoft is pulling the plug on it

>Windows Central
Xbox trannies on suicide watch

I hope Microsoft keeps only Sledgehammer CoDs multiplatform

>Microsoft buys acti bliz
>Microsoft will own highmoon studios
>phil walks up to Hasbro HQ like seto kaiba and writes a cheque to acquire a license for a new cybertron game

Why does the UK get a say in a business deal between two American companies? Even the competition that's whining about the deal is Japanese. No one in Europe should have any say in this.

Don't care still going to buy PS6, PS7, PS8, PS9, PS10, PS11, PS12, PS13, PS14, PS15, PS16, PS17, PS18, PS19, PS20
