At this point, you have better luck paying attention to what's going on in the online Mega Man fanbase. They're strong enough to have multiple creators with promising fangames in development. Not to mention a huge undertaking still being updated, Mega Man Maker v1.8.

Missile Man is a good first stage. Dune Woman has a harder pattern but her stage isn't too rough either. If you manage to beat DW first, you can use her weapon on MM but he's not too bad buster only.
