Do people still listen to live radio?

Yeah, I do

>radio does a few rapid beeps just before a text message comes in

My car can't even connect to digital devices and it was made in 2009.

>radio turns into static
>it wasn't on before

Huh, was going to say future open world is going to have to drop the trope because no one experiences this anymore.

When I've had jobs where I drive for a living. Eventually I get bored though and switch over to Spotify.

Yeah, but only because I like the talk show on one of my local stations

Unironically they do which baffles me because fotm "music" is absolutely terrible.
My car doesn't have a USB socket and jack socket is fucked so I have a device that I connect USB stick to and it sends radio signals to my radio so I can listen to music I like. The downsides are that I can't set it to play music in random order, it takes forever to skip through groups of songs I don't want to listen to at time (mostly vidya soundtracks, I don't know why I put them there, they're great in games but shit for driving) and everytime I get close to a car that has radio set on frequency close to that I listen on there are some static noises.
That's still preferable to radio.

I only listen to the oldies station

I would occasionally if the ads didn't get 5 times the song airtime

Yes, but only to retro channels blasting music music I actually like and not the trashy current flavor of the year "big pop hits" I don't like.
If there wouldn't be any local radio networks with 24/7 retro music I would rather unironically use cassettes again (yea I know you can connect phones and I do that, I just wanted to emphasise how much I don't like the current direction of music).

what games actually do this?

I like to listen to AM, sometimes I go out for spooky night drives and they have 50's detective stories on.

Fallout new vegas and gta v

sorry, i meant which games let me drive cars as a frog

uhhhhh crazy frog racer or excitebots trick racing is close as possible I can name

I don't, but I kind of miss it. I enjoy being able to choose what music/podcast I listen to too much to go back, but when I was a kid, there was a comfort to knowing that it was being broadcasted live by other people and tons of others were hearing the same thing as me. It's the same reason I liked leaving the TV on late at night when I was on the computer or playing on my gameboy or whatever.

There's an ad-free channel in my town run by high school students and it's pretty good.
Mostly they just play the Strokes and Modest Mouse and you get to hear them make jokes that don't land and fuck up with the equipment. It's really fun.

>DUDE SPOTIFY LMAO
zoom zoom

>car RPM is inconsistent with the speed
>put 4th gear and go 80km/h and the RPM goes all the way up in two seconds flat if I hold down the pedal
>hope its just the plugs
>replace plugs
>it didn't fix it
>drive home
>take a boat to play cards with the retard on the opposite shore
>win some, go home & sleep
>next day start up the car
>engine smokes and catches fire within 5 seconds
>turn off engine and the fire goes away in 3 seconds
>check engine, nothing's broken or exploded at cursory glance
>check oil and notice it's all gone now lol
>refill oil
>start engine (it works, wow)
>engine putting out white smoke like it did when the gasket was broken
>drive some 200m distance before engine starts overheating
>check coolant tank
>coolant halfway down lol
>refill coolant
>continue journey
>about 1,5km later or so the engine rpm goes up but the car doesn't move
>after fucking around with the gear I get it to move again
>drive for about 1 minute
>engine making very expensive sounds
>stop, turn off engine
>step outside the car and notice a broken engine piston laying on the road
well fugg :D

>Radio host introduces themselves and they're co-host and do some retarded fucking skit and is unfunny and the last thing I want to hear at 7AM.
>Play one shitty song that has been in the top 40 at some point in the past two years that they probably played at near enough the exact same time yesterday morning.
>Host keeps """joking""" over the first 20 seconds of the song becaause he believes he's absolutely hilarious.
>Song gets the last minute cut off and an ad that lasts longer than the duration of the song starts playing
>Host comes back and shills some competition the station is running
>Repeat
Radio is dead.
