Why aren't you playing Guild Wars 2?

because im in bed

Because it's the worst MMO I've played in recent history and that's really saying something considering the competition.

Final Fantasy XIV mogs it completely and I'm surprised GW2 is still clinging to life. Steam release is its last breath.

let me know when i can play without 250 ping minimum

good news

idk theres something about my character being exactly as strong as he was 10 years ago that makes the whole game really boring

reinstalling

Because the most interesting parts are the mounts but in order to unlock the skyscale I would have to do the extremely boring main quest so I dropped it instead.
I will try to get through it sometime soon though. Flying the griffon is really fun.

I did for a while, but I moved over to Destiny 2

Locked meta skills or classes behind a expansion pack paywall, asks full price for expansion pack full of shit I never touch when all I play is WvWvW which they never update.

But I am.

>the extremely boring main quest
This was a huge killer for me, FFXIV might have ruined MMOs for me because I actually care about storylines now so whenever there is incredibly shit writing, like in GW2, I notice it very much so.
Some of the things the NPCs were telling me were fucking insane.

because i hate the open world and leveling through pvp takes like 2 years

ff14 also has shit writing though. it has better pve content.

>beat up the bigot

You don't have cooler legendaries

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.
Most of the charracters in XIV, in my opinion, have reasonable motives and principles.
GW2 has this strange scizophrenia about everything, granted I didn't play the whole thing, but I had a specific snapping point maybe around level 40 MSQ.
I went with some beefcake guy to try and reason with some savage fish people, the writing is trying to be very progressive and tell me that I should respect other people and their cultures and ways of life. So we meet the fish men and find out that they have an ancient ritual of sacrifice to placate their gods. We meet the next sacrifice and they don't want to die. So my beefcake says fuck their way of life, let's speak to their leader and stop this. We talk to their leader who says "This is our way, we won't change." so we kill their leader and some other fish men and the beefcake laughs and says "Sometimes, when people don't agree with you, you need to kill them!" and this is meant to be a guiding voice in the story. This is the rationale behind a LOT of the positive figures in the story. It keeps winding back down to might making right and people being completely unapologetic about it, while also pretending to be very inclusive and progressive.
I don't fucking get it.
Not to mention the big human intro quest which starts off with some detetive shit that all ends up being redundant whenever you just kill the criminal in a trial by combat instead, rendering all of the evidence gathering worthless.

I've unironically watched pornography with more coherent plotlines that Guild Wars 2.

i got eternity/juggernaut

You can bitch about FFXIV's writing as much as you want, but GW2 is so much worse. I've played GW2, WoW, ESO, RS3 & OSRS, and GW2's main story is by far the worst.
There's good parts like the Charr questlines, but everything after that is awful.

you basically won the game once you get ascended armor.

I'm straight

I know many people won't care about the story, but I don't think it's hard to at least write something acceptable. The fact that GW2 is so poorly written that it stands out as bad is a problem.
I can think of MMOs like Tera or Rift which, while the storylines were nothing to write home about, both were perfectly adequeate if you followed along with them and even had enough twists and turns to keep it engaging.
I feel like XIV stands as the uncontested champion right now, I'm sure some people will disagree for whatever reason they will. I'm not asking for GW2 to be that though, I'd just like it to not be awful.

I honestly don't know, it wasn't that bad of a game it just wasn't that great either. I enjoyed my engineer.

I think a lot of it was I got bored of it once and never bothered to reinstall it, so now I'd have to dredge up my login info, redownload the client, and then would likely play for an hour before deciding to play something else instead. It's kind of the same issue I have as Starcraft 2, I can't remember my battle.net password nor do I feel like putting up with the client to actually start playing again, so it just sits in limbo.
