Is Nier Replicant good?
Is Nier Replicant good?
Yeah.
The new version is a lot less jank and all the lines are now voice acted. It's really cool.
The ost is inferior to the original and automata's. That doesn't necessarily make it bad though.
I haven't heard the old OST as I only played Replicant. The OST was very good.
I like the new action combat, even if it is pretty shallow. You can still do a few cool combos despite that.
It is great.
Not quite as good as Automata, but still a good game.
One thing that needs to be mentioned each time NieR is brought up is that they are NOT some DMC/Bayo style combo-focused hack&slash games, but rather semi-chill ARPGs. I'd even compare them to older 3D Zeldas in a way.
That being said, while I appreciate the more Automata-style combat in Replicant v1.224..., I do feel like it's a bit too fast paced and flashy now. They could've at least made the tempo more akin to Gestalt/OG Replicant first, and bump it up as player levels up.
>semi-chill ARPGs
They are definitely very relaxing to play. Going around a post-apocalyptic surrealist fantasy world doing everyday errands and fighting is very fun. I just wish they added more depth to the RPG elements, though.
Now that I think about it, Nier is structured exactly like a Zelda game. The northern planes are an intermediate area that separate the main dungeons with several towns and shops. You also collect key story items from each of these dungeons to fight the antagonist, which you lose to and skip forward to play as an adult with more items and abilities. There is also a princess to save and floating companion. In that sense, I guess you could say Replicant is the most recent 3D Zelda game.
The old OST had a ton of songs that only had one or two instruments along with the vocals. That level of restraint is pretty rare for Japanese composers who tend to take a more kitchen sink approach with compositions.
The lesser number of instruments really gave the songs a heightened sense of intimacy that added a ton of emotional weight to this emotionally-driven game.
Replicant's music undoes this effect by adding unnecessary instrumentation to songs that didn't have them before, giving these intimate songs a more grandiose feeling that doesn't suit the game as well.
It's a great as a remix album cause the new mixes are still great. But in terms of how they're utilized in game it feels like a downgrade. Less is more.
Didn't finish. Boring, waste of time.
Better nhan Automata.
Wretched Automatons is my fave
No papa nier no buy
I agree. The original's was far more stark and bleak which I felt fit the melancholic nature of the game more.

Probably the best "remake" I have ever played.
I honestly dropped the remake like 10 hours in but I am thinking about giving it another shot. I am kinda OCD about doing side quests but the ones in this game were just absolutely terrible. Also: The Japanese voice for the little sister was fucking insufferable.
bump
No pops. Shit game. Sage goes in every orifice.
It’s a boring fetch quest generator held hostage by a good story. Better off watching it on YouTube.
I really like Big Niers voice, it’s really good, who else does he voice?
is there a mod to replace it with the original yet?
is this the sneakers by itzy dance move?
I need to know this as well. The remade OST just doesn't have the grit and brutality that the original songs had.
It's the same.
Now, the osts are quite different. See here
Gameplay wise it's the most bland, boring hack and slash I've played. But the story, characters, world and especially music are all fantastic though. The visuals are nice but considering the lore of the game it's way too sunny and bright. Ending D was genuinely beautiful to watch and something only a game can do. It's the only game I stuck with because of the story despite how mediocre the gameplay is.
Yes, put your sneakers on
No*
is there a mod to fix kaine's face?
Why the fuck did they prevent you from damaging the bosses until the dialogue plays out in this version?
I will never forgive them for ruining the best scene in the game.
The whole scene is well acted but Popola's rage as the she tells them that noone stops is palpable. The voice acting in the original one may be the best single line performance in any vidya I've played.
This is near the end of the game. The two versions for comparison:
youtu.be
youtu.be
The retranslation also seems off.
Replicant's version isn't bad but the original is simply better. Also still not fond of the plastic surgery faces of everyone in the game.
Wish to know this too.
It's disgusting what they did to the shrine boss theme. Completely butchered.
Yeah, it's called NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139. They sell it right on the steam storefront.
did replicant remaster fix the garbage english translation at all?
fucking awful
Get an exuboxu and pray Gestalt at 60fps on there.
The bigger crime is adding the retarded white nose to Weiss losing his voice, because apparently it was too subtle for dumb fuck Americans the first time.
