What the fuck is wrong with the scaling in this game?
>do a single dungeon as a part of the main story
>suddenly you're 5 levels ahead of what you should be
I've had to switch to other classes at multiple points just to stay within an acceptable level range of the quests I'm doing.
FFXIV
FF14 is dogshit
You can thank all the catch-up rewarding that's been given out over the years of expansions for that. That and the devs forcing you to power level before tackling the MSQ so you don't get cock blocked while trying to go through the story.
it's not possible to get 5 levels from a single dungeon
thanks for bump brother
It's just another catch-up mechanic for new people.
I think they even changed MSQ for 1-50 level range so it's more beginner friendly.
I miss leveling different jobs just to be able to get job stone on my main job
Why does it matter if you're ahead? All the msq stuff that matters for combat(dungeons, trials, and solo duties) scale your level anyways.
your mistake was going into the game expecting challenging main story content. there is none. it's 300 hours of teleporting from cutscene to another and every so often you get to do an instanced dungeon with bored max levels to whom the random dungeon queue is menial labor.
You're automatically level synced in Duty Finder content.
You clearly don't understand the appeal of RPGs.
Half the reason to even want to go through the story is to see your character get progressively more powerful and feel that in the gameplay with increasingly larger numbers and unlocking new skills.
The way XIV handles it where you get overlevelled to hell, unlock everything and then are forced to relock all that shit for hours while doing the actual content is the most unsatisfying way to handle progression in a game like this.
If I unlock Fell Cleave I want to use it as soon as possible against enemies that don't die in a single hit from a basic auto attack, not wait for 30 more hours until I get to the dungeon where I'm suddenly allowed to use it.
That's what level sync is for you fucking moron
If I can give you an advice, just avoid this game, because the only good part of the plot is Havensword. And that's was the second expansion reachable only after the 60 tedious hours of A Realm Reborn.
The community is also a toxic part of the whole package. It's one of the reasons that made me quit after the horrible last expansion Endwalker.
Save your time from this tedious game
It made more sense back when multi-classing was actually MANDATORY if you wanted to play your class right due to cross class skills (for example, the other tank jobs didn't get Provoke unless they leveled up Gladiator to unlock it, and doing your job unlock required a second class at level 15), so it made sense that you got enough EXP to level multiple classes as you went through the story.
No, you can just level one class and plus they don't want anyone to get stuck having to grind in old content too much so yeah, the level scaling is a bit excessive for the main story quest.
Personally I say just level multiple classes, that's sort of what the whole game design is built around. It's obviously intended and expected that players play more than one class on their character.
you still want multiple classes because of role quests, also solo duties are way better as a dps but you dodge shitty dps ques if you have a tank or a healer in the back pocket
endwalker is also a good narrative if you've ever left the house and gotten to know someone
unfortunately it takes hundreds of hours of mediocrity to get through(shadowbringers is only good in its first act and towards the very ending, the remainder is a slog)
They added a bunch of buffs to xp, and I think it's exactly so you would level 2-3 jobs at a time.
I do understand it being unappealing to some, I myself wouldn't have liked to play it like that the first time, wanting to just be Paladin.
Can't spirit bond if you're overleveled. Granted it's a small thing but it's still annoying.
I came back to the game a few months ago after a several year break and made a new character and the server was doing the Road to 80 buff for new players, I ended up at level 60 something by the time I finished HW and I'm in the beginning of Stormblood now with two classes at 80.
The slog part of the whole plot of FF14 are, basically, around 200 hours of shit stuff and useless fetch quests, and only 30 of interesting plot.
For this reason, thinking about it now, I troughs that playing this kind of game it wasn't worth it, imo
("unless you are a MMO master" able to play a game for over 2000 hours and still don't get bored)
only 5? last time i did the MSQ on a new character i was 70 before i beat heavensward
for me its drk and pld, the best tanks
Is it just me being a sprout or is being a healer actually stressful.
you're either wrangling tards or spamming stone. or if you fuck up the whole party dies. not for the faint of heart
Because the gameplay doesn't matter. You being "an acceptable level" to do quests just means those 4 wolfs you need to kill takes 4 more minutes. You don't play MMOs for balanced, structured, deep, or engaging gameplay. You do it because you want to move your fingers around while listening to a podcast.
Low level healing sucks especially if the tank is also low level and doesn't know how to properly mitigate.
Healer is the most stressful job by far, and early on not having a lot instant spells can get hairy, especially if the tank has shit gear and/or isn't using their mitigations.
That lalafell is a male.
Healing in leveling content will be a bit stressful for a while. It's really not complicated, but learning to keep a cool head and heal only as needed when needed takes practice. Remember that the best mitigation is killing the enemies as quickly as possible, and use all your cooldowns frequently.
So if your opinion but I don't go posting in every thread about it.
Welcome to any mmo that has been out for a significant amount of time. They always fuck up new player pacing to try and catch people up.
I'm a sprout tank main and I get the worst healers. I do a pull turn on mitigation and am usually forced to invuln cause my healer forgot they're "not playing whm"(wtf does that even mean????) We should team up, we'll be unstoppable.
