Call of Duty forcing you to use ur phone number for online play

>Call of Duty forcing you to use ur phone number for online play
>People are now begging Activision to require Government issues identities to play Call of Duty because of a few bots/cheaters
This is depressing at this point

Their game, their rules.
It's THAT simple.

we are gonna become cattle in like 5-10 years, are we?

Ok so what? I've always been required to present my ID when I go to concerts, clubs, and bars.

> Twitter forces a huge chunk of their users to use a phone number to keep their account
> all those IRL phone numbers got leaked a few months ago because someone didn't update the site properly

Pottery

so by this logic, why dont we use real phone numbers and government identities on this website? Retard

I trust the government to safe guard my shit a hell of a lot more than random fucking gaming companies, jack ass. The comparison isn't even apt, a bar isn't going to scan a picture and hold onto your information in definitely, the guy at the is gonna glance at it and let you go.

I'm just too jaded for competitive multiplayer after seeing how heavily cheating is soaked into even top-level esports and combined with situational hotkeys and adaptive software to be nigh undetectable. In games like Rust it's considered normal and fair play for the average player to have anti-recoil macros, mice that have built-in advantages in the hardware or otherwise exploit the game. Every death is a second-guess as to whether the guy was actually better or if he just automatically locked on and murked you. I'll do a cooperative game with the lads now and then but I just can't enjoy or give a shit about PVP anymore. Anti-fun on every level anyway, not a big loss.

Based. Single player games & Coop games are pretty much the only games worth playing.

BASED, maybe we can even tie their real world identities in the future and create like a social credit system where those who defy our corporate benefactors get barred from using govery stores and gas stations in real life.

fpbp

Because requiring IDs on Any Forums wouldn't help the average person. The people who get banned are usually great content.

In games, requiring IDs would harm businesses who's entire model hinges on scamming. This would help the average player. This also would help deter cheating and make bans much harder to circumvent. Everyone hates cheaters.

Not at all a good comparison.

>Any Forums wouldn't help the average person
Do you forget the insane problem with bots here retard? Do you really want ur full personal identity in every single social media site, website and fucking game to do anything? What if you get unbanned unfairly? What if theres a nassive hack that steals this personal info? This would also make companies be way more hostile to selling ur info to adverts too. Theres so many horrible issues that can go wrong and its a way for companies to have more control over you

kill yourself

Stop buying CoD games.
Make fun of people that do.
Yes, boycotts don't work, but cutting off bad friends does.

> a bar isn't going to scan a picture and hold onto your information in definitely

Some of them do, and share them around to screen undesirables.

>Reminder that this is the future you were ok with when you didn't stand up against proprietary software
Fixed.

>people who disagree with me are bots
I've been called a boy numerous times. It's just a modern witch hunt.

>tfw went from never give away any identifying information and strive to be anonymous online to make yourself an easily tracked individual with no privacy or anonymity in my life time

You just know you as a person is going to be tied to any "toxic behavior" while doing absolutely nothing to combat the actual bots or trolls who'll easily get around this by spoofing a number. Just another way to collect data and follow people around. Too many strikes against your number and you're auto barred from every game that requires it in the future.

Not just in your lifetime, it happened in like half a fucking decade. Corporations realized they could make insane profit stalking and selling everything you do so of course the entire narrative got flipped overnight.
