I think the story in general is somewhat limited by none of the main characters being allowed to have love interests due to the writers deliberately wanting to leave open the possibility of each players wol getting with most given characters

Legitimately the worst quest in the entire game narratively, mechanically, and gameplay wise. I don't know who was responsible for this quest, but they should've been fired. Like, I am genuinely surprised they were so out of touch as to make such a terrible decision not just gameplay wise, but narrative wise as well. Why even start a long ass quest arc and have it settled off-screen so you can play a shitty minigame as yshtola with 4 buttons, a 1shot mechanic and the worst gameplay i'd ever experienced until thancreds fight.

I never died. I knew what to do. I discovered how retarded it was with the restart with the sadu fight after seeing people complain later when I checked to see if anyone else thought the entire situation was fucking stupid. And there is no shitter here, that quest is complete trash, the entire arc is trash and the worst writing i've seen in the game at a fundamental level.
You spend 2 hours doing this entire thing, getting the steppes to help you, and getting a duel with sadu organized all to use some buried allagan tech to protect doma and the steppes, and 80% into the duel to decide the fat of doma and their ability to use a shield, the game for some reason decides this is the PERFECT TIME to introduce yshtola battle simulator, as a fucking white mage healer, with 4 fucking buttons, while your duel with sadu is concluded off-screen.
Not only is yshtolas fight one of the worst fights in the game gameplay wise, because its so fucking boring with 4 buttons, and a fucking 1-shot mechanic that forces you to redo the sadu fight which itself is overly long, but narratively the fact that the entire climax and conclusion to the 2 hour quest arc you were working through happens OFF SCREEN with sadu is the most bat-shit retarded shit i'd ever experienced. At least with alphinaud and thancred, the actual objective of the arc you've been working on isn't happening off-screen, its while you're escaping or drinking tea. The fact any dev thought this was a good idea just leaves me completely confused because its a terrible decision at a fundamental level when it comes to writing. Like literally, writing 101, don't spend HOURS ON AN ARC AND SETTLE THE CLIMAX OFF-SCREEN FOR AN IRRELEVANT SIDE QUEST.

because noone talks about how retarded this quest is or how its the worst writing i'd ever seen in the game, and the picture gave me the chance to point it out. Cause it is the worst i'd seen so far. The entire time I was thinking what brainlet thought this was a good idea that the entire quest arc you were investing hours into is currently being decided off-screen all so you can play one of the worst pet-battles in the game. And not just a shitty minigame, but with one of the most boring jobs, whm, where you have to dps it alongside hien. It's so fundamentally stupid on multiple levels I kept wondering if an intern did it, if wow had come up with minion battles in quests recently and yoshi p wanted to copy it for some retarded reason, or if the intern somehow got assigned to doing this quest and fucked it all up. Its just so bad, getting the opportunity to point it out is a rare opportunity.

And i'm here like, this is probably the worst quest in the game on a basic writing level, and that was the worst fight i'd ever experienced. At least until the thancred fight in which i'm convinced the devs never playtested it, cause it goes on for like 15 minutes of a fucking forced tank battle where you're doing no dmg, and has another 1-shot mechanic, that one actually did kill me, unlike the yshtola one, and I was just thinking "yoshi p, please stop copying wow mechanics, theyre so bad. please just stop".

oh and it took me 15 minutes to complete the thancred fight on VERY EASY mode, because I died to the 1-shot mechanic because for some reason, they decided to not show duty action 1 on my bar the first time I did the stupid fucking battle. I do not know why the devs insist on these fucking retarded alt-fights with the other scions. Theyre always bad, and overstay their welcome, especially so in the case of thancred.
