The story and characters in this game are world-class for the medium. Why did no one give a shit?

It's like 15 years old and honestly not very fun to play

first playthrough is genuinely enjoyable

collecting all weapons to get the rest of the game is not. Why the FUCK didn't they change that? It wouldn't be so bad if most sidequests weren't trolling

It's a mediocre remake and it came out the same week as Resident Evil 8 which got mainstream attention pre-release.

I think the anime dollification of the characters didn't mesh well with the tone of the game as well as the original artstyle. And Papa Nier best Nier.

This
I love the music, the setting, the characters but the actual gameplay puts me to sleep.
I do like 2 quests that are me running across the map to deliver or do some random thing then I save and call it a day. It is just boring.

They went over board with the sidequests being all meta commentary on sidequests in rpgs, this would be fine if you didn't NEED TO DO THEM TO GET THE WHOLE GAME

FUCK

I disagree, the remaster made fighting things feel really nice.

Except THESE FAGGOTS.

Nah even the first playthrough is a slog, it's just endlessly running between the same few locations talking to people with a bit of mashing combat in the middle, the game barely has more gameplay than a visual novel

all Yoko Taro games except maybe Automata are a slog by a certain point very repetitive
