What went wrong? why do people hate him now?

“Angry Video Game Nerd” was a persona he made during early adulthood, and as he got older and got married he literally “settled down”. He’s now middle aged, so modern episodes are him looking at games modestly and then every once and a while he’ll go “this is ass!” or something along those lines, and then ending it off with swearing and maybe a little animation of him blowing up the game with lasers or just him drinking a beer. He’s now the “Passively-aggressive Annoyed Gamer”. He still gets success tho and seems happy so good for him.

Anyone who hates AVGN has no soul.

AVGN hasn't been good for like 10 years, and nowadays he only does the bare minimum of acting as the Nerd while letting Screenwave handle the writing and recording gameplay

I remember the Contra one as being good, and I think it got people excited that he was going to be the head writer more often. Unfortunately I think it was followed by that cat shovelware game.

I used to find him mega funny waaaay back between 2006 to maybe 2012 ish, then the quality died down, and other youtubers started making better content with better comedy.

Also it's just almost sad now how he has never moved on even after like SEVENTEEN freaking years. That's nuts.

because he literally can't. Youtube has been cucking people so hard this year where even showing stunts gets you demonitized and swearing is straight up forbidden in some cases

He still swears. I don't really get your point, is there really a rule against acting angry like he used to? Almost all of his previous videos are up, with a few exceptions like the porn games. I noticed this change in demeanor leading up to and after his movie. He just kind of lost his edge and fury He became the annoyed videogame nerd.
