protip you can't kill the messiah

The attempt to reformulate Nod into some kind of ambiguous entity and turn the clear-cut moral binarity of the two factions on it's head is one of the absolute worst ideas this franchise ever had.

It's bad writing and it's just needless.

t. GDI globohomo

Honestly the best time to do that would've been Tiberian Dawn, when Nod's goals were ambiguous and GDI could be seen as an alarming overreach of globalist/NWO-type power. (Of course, even back then Nod was still okay with attacking civilians.)

But then by Tiberian Sun, Nod wanted to render all life on Earth extinct, which is evil on a scale that wraps back around to retarded since they LIVE ON EARTH, and it's far too late to play the moral ambiguity card after that.

nod are cartoonishly evil from the get go

IN THE NAME OF KANE

I actually usually liked Nod more because they were more fun.
Trying to reframe them as anything else but the bad guys did not make them more fun.

Yeah, but honestly, I have a problem with the whole idea from start to finish. First because it's stupid - Nod is Kane, it's a cult of personality, and cults of personality are cool, but never good. Second of all - it's just a cheap writing ploy.
It reminds me of when I was a kid and thought it was super smart if every stupid comedy story we wrote with friends suddenly turned super serious and ambiguous at the end.

I love me some morally grey stories, and I love me some clear cut binarities.
But mixing the two is something only VERY few writers can do succesfully, and most who do it, do it for the wrong reasons.

Still play it to this day, have the original box laying around here too. The soundtrack was spot on in this game.

Love TibSun's art direction, soundtrack, unit designs, sound effects, animations and cutscenes, everything but the gameplay.
Gameplay is trash.
I still replay it religiously every two years or so.

>realize what a brainlet i was as a kid
This has happened a lot to me when playing older games. Then there are sections where I'm amazed retarded kid me managed to beat

>good guys
How does using and discarding people to try to kill every living thing on the planet is considered a good thing?

i've been searching for some minutes now. am i tripping? i'm 100% sure the box i owned for that game was very long and big. but all i can find are normal sized boxes. anybody had the big package version?

I generally have the opposite problem.
I go back to something I used to play with ease as a kid - like the fucking Lion King platformer - only to find it absolutely insane that I could get anywhere back then, because I just can't fucking play it right.

I'm a fairly casual RTS player I'll admit, but my problem here is with the specific mechanics of these games, because I never had these kinds of problems with games like AoE or Starcraft or Original War or Homeworld.

GDI is just a comical globohomo CIA nigger faction, which is still a dominant real life force. This makes Nod look better because there is nothing like them irl so their retarded moments don't elicit spontaneous annoyance. At least in Tiberian Dawn.
Going full transhumanist in Tiberian Sun was cool before the WEF/Harari types hijacked the idea.
Nod are just funnier, have a charismatic leader and better esthetics. Their campaigns are harder and more mechanically interesting in the game. GDI missions sometimes feel like a tutorial for the real nod game.

>he's from the big box universe

this

you probably had one of those combo packs, basically every RTS series out there had something like this

As someone who started with Tiberium Wars, will the remasters feel dated?

It is fascinating that you somehow manage to project your political insecurities into 20 years old light-hearted commedy games and even end up somehow justifying the cartoonishly evil faction.

You really are the same as the idiots who think lack of a black person in 1920's cartoon about mice is an attack on all colored people in the world.

Printed a GDI power plant a little while ago, NOD war factory is next
