Is it a good shooter?

ah yes, that well known game, 81BGEKNWFSL._AC_SL1500_

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

not a bad shooter, just somewhat lackluster but other things make up for it

is this game open world? remember playing a demo of the dlc or some shit and the world seem open.

It was planned to be open world, but ended up being linear. I suppose 2 will be, as well as more survival horror focused. Really have high hopes for it even though I probably shouldn't.

I've never even played it and even I can tell it's Alan Wake.

No.
It REALLY isn't.
It's garbage on every single level. Terrible combat (the main issue here being the darkness mechanics, which basically means you need to chip off enemy armor by staring at them for a bit until the game tells you you can deal damage - which then is underwhelming as fuck), absolutely abysmal as a horror game because the concept of subtlety isn't in Sam Lake's vocabulary, and absolutely abysmal in it's writing.
The only thing that is even remotely close to salvagable about it is the art direction. The atmosphere of some of the places is neat. But it is both ruined by the god-awful gen-7 level design, and every single second when people open their mouths, or the game expects you to actually play.

Sam Lake was a one hit wonder. And even that one game wasn't THAT great, it was more about the novelty of the presentation and the earnessnest of MP1's writing that makes people think fondly of it.

The only other time Sam got anywhere into the same BALLPARK as an interesting game was actually Control, but even that is dragged down by the same issues - garbage combat and beyond abysmal writing.

But at least Control wasn't chained by the Gen7 gameplay and tech, and does something interesting with it's level design and progression.

Max Payne 2 is needless, Alan's Wake and Quantum Break are AWFUL, and Control isn't good, but it is trying something.

No it's a pretty shit game overall. Worth plaything through once if you like stephen king garbage.

I enjoy Stephen King's writing as a guilty pleasure, and I still fucking hated Alan's Wake.
It's not a good Stephen King-style story. It just takes the tropes and constantly salivates about him, but it does not get even CLOSE to what makes his stories work. And that is all taking into consideration that Stephen King isn't great, and making something that mimics or draws from his work really should not be hard.

>this redditor again

didn't ask

It's simplistic mechanically, but it's original and fun, if easy and samey. The shootouts in American Nightmare are way more fun.
Between i-frame dodge, slow shield breaking with the flashlight, and forgiving aiming, the decision making feels more like some melee focused action game, crowd controlling in tight quarters and luring enemies to environmental hazards.

Original game is strictly linear, American Nightmare is based around a hub, if I remember right.

Someone's awfully insecure about the game.
Funny you'd call other's "redditors" when you entire contribution to the discussion is an attempt to emulate a "dislike" post.

I'm simply not a fan of your pretentious posts

I can see. I just don't really understand the narcissism behind you thinking anyone gives a fuck about that.

You clearly do since you keep replying to me

No, if you want fun gameplay and gun combat Control is much better. The Alan Wake DLC was very disappointing though.

Sort of, it was 3 or 4 open areas that you went through a few times over. I ended up enjoying American Nightmare more in the end and would love if the sequel stayed in the rural American southwest region

I'm interested in the specific mental disfunction you have. Not in your opinion about the games. And that is mostly because you can't help showing off former, and can't for the love of god formulate the latter.

Serious question: have you ever considered not joining a discussion when you clearly have absolutely nothing to add to it?

bruh
all you do is seethe about gen7 games, it doesn't add anything to discussion

>all you do is seethe about gen7 games, it doesn't add anything to discussion
I don't think you have any clue how the concept of "discussion" operates.
OP asked a question. I answered it. It's a fairly simple exchange, yet somehow the principles completely elude you.

lol you're basically a robot every thread
>gen7 game bad
>please read my obnoxious wall of text
>sperg out at anyone who disagrees with me until bump limit
>repeat
schizo-tier behavior
