Puttin a "Usury bad" scene in a game where you're free to kill everyone you see with no moral repercussions is cheap and doesn't make any sense.
Imagine if you killed too many innocent/bystanders and they didn't allow you back into the camp, that would have made this scene more in line. But the game lacks the moral behind what is good and what is evil and this scene is forced

If you take to long to do the collection missions Dutch will chew you out and order you to, and if you keep ignoring them after then it stops letting you do anything in camp.
Not to mention Arthur's job in the gang is to be the enforcer. He's the knee breaker. The dumb muscle who keeps everyone in line, and can fight their way through just about every situation.

Yeah. I still agree with the anons that say loan sharks are massive sacks of shit. But I also agree with you. I count myself lucky my parents taught me to be responsible and organized with my money as a kid, and so I could never fathom how people just brashly jump into massive debts just like that.
Granted the families in the game were in desperate scenarios, not just looking to buy luxuries. But still, I rather go through hard times than sell my soul to the devil.

When you go to collect from the guy hunting the white cougar he even says on the ride to the cave and he asks Arthur why they think anyone stupid and desperate enough to take a loan on those terms would be expected to actually pay it back.
It would be like if you loaned a bunch of money to a crackhead and then tried to get it back from him after he spent it all on crack.
Like the guy who gives you the Coof. He doesn't have the money, he spent it all on charity and a failing farm, and is dying.
