Is it worth getting into Planetside 2 nowdays? Or i missed out on the glory days? If so what's the current alternative?

it's only populated during peaktime, but it's good fun if you can put up with the dogshit UI

It's OK, fantastic compared to current day shit

Terran Republic forever, by the way don't @ me.

>Is it worth getting into Planetside 2 nowdays?
No.
>Or i missed out on the glory days?
Yes
>If so what's the current alternative?
There isn't.

well aside from TRAM taking indar that one time, what glory days?

It's not in a good state right now but it's free to play to it's worth trying out. You'll either love it or hate it.

>glory days
Don't worry, those days lasted only for the duration of the original beta until T-Ray had his way

It is completely dead, you missed it by years

Getting mixed messages here. The idea of a constant large scale war instead of a 20-30 man lobby seems fun to dick around in. This game somehow eluded me over the years. Nowdays FPS playercount is either getting lower and lower for ebin competitive gaming or it's an FFS Battle Royale type fuckfest.

>Or i missed out on the glory days?
You missed it by a couple years.

There is no large scale war left, the game is dead.

dont bother replying beyond this post

game is just a 1000 player meatgrinder

Actual player here. It's had lots of ups and downs, and is now on an upward path again because the studio actually exists now.
There was a time (a few years ago) when there were only 3 people working on the game, now it's 30-ish. Recent updates have been pretty good and the anniversary is nearing, which usually contains a sizeable update.

Yes, playercounts are down compared to Beta/Launch. Emerald is the most populated server and actually contains enough players to have several concurrent fights. Hope you have decent ping to it.
Also you will die a lot as a new player and get your shit stomped by veteran players. Don't worry about your KDR and keep an eye on the map and your team so you can be nearby friendlies.
Engineer and Medic are good classes to focus on as a noob. Light Assault is also good to help you learn the bases and get the jump on people to get some easy kills.

>large scale war
reality was that the zerg army just kept steamrolling from one point to another whilst defenders had their spawn point camped to shit and both sides were spamming nades/missiles

>playercounts are down
The playercount isn't even 1/10th of what the game was designed for.

>remember early planetside without the lanes
>TR always holding the crown while loosing every base
>massive air strikes from NC and Vanu on the crown

you missed the glory days i am sorry

How is it compared to 2016~
I played a lot back then and it was probably the height of the game, tons of armchair dads to farm.
I think the games shrunken and hardened somewhat, redeploy meta is supposedly dead?

That's literally how every game is on Crown/Nason/Ascent.
In all seriousness that current spawn system completely kills any joy left in game during primetime. Fucking zergshits ruining every small 20v20 fight.

Redeploy meta is the only meta left in the game.
