Honestly it doesn't fucking matter. I guess the biggest problem is the translation. Apparently the available witch hunt translation, besides not being the default one there, is also not the one from the steam release which is supposed to be slightly better. In my case I would say that I played Umineko for the first time in late 2020 with original sprites, but I'll admit that perhaps they don't phase me because I read Higurashi back in 2009 with OG sprites as well.
