Is it just me or is DS3 not as bad as I remembered?
I feel like most people dislike it because if you play the games in order you get burnt out on the souls formula so it just has an unfortunate position in the souls series

There were like 6 sequels and none of them captured the magic or soul of the original. If they made a "Demon's Souls 2" today it would just be another shitty, generic souls game like the rest of them.

Im upset at the lack of replayability it inspires.
Ds1 has its interconnecting world shenanigans.
Ds2 has its ng+ changes.
ds3 has neither.
Good for a playthrough or two but not that fun getting to ng+7 in comparison ot the other ones.

I used to feel very meh about it but I have developed a retrospective newfound respect for it after playing Elden Ring, not as a discredit to that game in any way though. For me, hindsight is 20/20

I think Elden Ring just showed how much the Souls formula doesn't have to do with combat. It did a great job crafting its gameplay unrelated to combat, which reminds us that Souls is about level design. 3 had good level design. The combat was a bit more boring but I can get over that.
