It only looks blurry if the pixel density is worse. Even 480p videos look amazing on my 13" MBP screen.

MBP uses like a 220ppi screen, possibly more these days. Scaling isn't as much of an issue at that point simply due to how many pixels you have to work with.
1440p is nowhere near high enough for pixel density to make scaling not matter as much.
