Lets be real here, I've only seen complaints that hes OP crop up since the bots, probably because the bots show how powerful sniper *could* be
like sure, he can 1 shot 6/9 classes on an uncharged headshot, but that requires aiming and quick reflexes, and his secondaries are all pretty shit outside of niche uses EXCEPT jarate
so is he really OP because he can just 1 shot anyone on the map instantly, or is it just the bots making him seem OP because of aimbot?
>is he OP because his skill ceiling is so high he can effectively one shot every class at any range Yes
Ryan Bell
razorback is a bit much too especially with the nerfed ambi but yeah otherwise he's not really op if you're paying attention and i say that as someone who sucks at paying attention unless i hear a bullet
Jose Cook
A sniper in the zone, still needs to be playing on an open map, and a non-retarded team. Without team support even god snipers will be pushed back into their own spawn. Also fuck bots
Tyler Perry
If you're a good aimer, playing against your average retards on a pub server? Sure. If you're fighting players who can actually move properly? Not really, no.
Cameron Anderson
The thing is nobody respect his sight line that why he is op. >Oh a sniper in my sight, better press W and try to doge his shot.
Grayson James
>Sniper, at his core, has stayed the same since the game's inception (15 years ago, mind you) >Only very recently (last couple of years) have the complaints against Sniper being OP exploded, with people demanding a nerf/rework of the class >All classes get complained about, but Sniper complaints now outweigh them all combined I genuinely believe most players have a recent grudge against Sniper because of the rise in bots and to an extent, of cheaters since there's no punishment for cheating. They're just tired of dying over and over to Snipers to the point it becomes hard to differentiate between real player and bot/cheater. Because of this they perceive Sniper as always dominating servers and needing a nerf/rework. If bots and cheaters were completely gone I'm sure many would realize that Sniper isn't as strong as they think. I'm fully aware that there are Sniper players with thousand of hours on the class and with near-perfect aim that can shut down servers, and I don't think Sniper is perfect and could in fact use a few changes, but what I see suggested often times is completely bullshit and would completely ruin the class, but for many that's OK because there's people that would unironically remove Sniper from the game as if he never existed
It's not because of the bots 5 years ago I played a 24/7 harvest map and everything was going well until an unusual sniper with a razorback joined the server and proceeded to kill almost everyone that entered his field of view , which was 50% of the entire fucking map , it was completely unplayable and incredibly unfun Sniper is fundamentally broken , to nerf him you would have to change his entire playstyle
Razorback is literally useless. With the weakest spy gun it takes 2-3 shots to take down a sniper. A sniper can't react that fast most of the time. And even if he reacts, he's paranoid now and won't be able to calm down until he makes sure the spys dead or he's regained his health, effectively disabling him for the duration equivalent of a death.
Juan Lee
same with random crits
they've been in the game since its inception but only since a youtuber complained about them has complaints about them spiked
Joseph Carter
I fucking hate tf2 youtubers
Nathan Young
Nah, people were always divided about random crits from basically day 1. I don't get this idea that Dane started the no random crits movement or that if you're against random crits you're automatically a Danefag. He popularized the idea and brought attention to it, but there were already plenty of people that wanted them removed (and not necessarily Dane subscribers)
Daniel Hughes
whats worse is that they dont fit into the category of professional players so you cant make the "professional players shouldnt dictate how a game is balanced" argument
instead their opinions are fucking shit and have a cult of personality around them of people who repeat their shitty opinions
Brandon Ward
>Sniper is OP because of this one time I played 5 years ago >On the map notorious for its openness and sight-lines
Sebastian Brown
>sniper hasn't changed at all in all that time >admitting map design is a huge part of how flawed sniper class design is are you going somewhere with this
Adam Robinson
>Gets popular by making weapon review videos and suggesting weapon rebalancing >Even runs his own custom server with rebalanced weapons >Turns out he's bad at the game Whew youtube.com/watch?v=BSO_tCYQ2bI
Remember when muselk got the loch n load nerfed by complaining about it? Good times.
Aiden Barnes
This argument never holds water in practice because it's not a 1v1 spy vs sniper, it's an 8v8 where the sniper probably has teammates close by. An instant kill backstab on the sniper and having to stand there shooting him is often the difference between being able to cloak and escape and having his teammates kill you.
Benjamin Sanders
>also hates random crits and thinks they should be removed from the game
I wonder if its a correllation...
Owen Anderson
I've never felt like sniper was overpowered, but a good sniper is definitely not fun to play against. I don't want to switch classes just to counter one asshole.
