I'm outta food, I guess I gotta restart the whole game? I'm stuck in the inverted forest atm, and these birds only give enough eggs for 5 percent my whole hunger bar. I'm surprised the game doesn't start taking health away once you're out of food, because you're basically dead depending on where you get stuck in.

You can restart from before you went on a dive in the menu if you softlock yourself. Protip: bring salt. Lots of salt. If you don't have 30+ salt with you in the early game, you're going to be sad.

Later in the game food is easy, I just buy shit from the shop. As a black whistle there's a food that's like 25g and refills like 30-50 hunger, makes hunger no longer an issue because you can bring a 10 stack for emergencies.

either that or bring back fish and crab/beast meat for the fancy dishes to cook at base and use for long runs, not worth bringing all the kitchen shit, layer 2 food is decent, doesn't weight that much for 30 hunger, considering weapon durability is your hard cap at L2 it's better to save weight for pickaxes

Man, how do you softlock yourself in the tutorial? I didn't bring any salt and it was still easy to get to the seeker camp.

I'm stuck, what can I say? If Reg would just fucking kill these birds, I MIGHT have just enough to progress to the camp, but he keeps dodging and the birds are so annoying, I don't even think they respawn.

The birds should respawn, if you kite them long enough Reg should kill them, but he is fucking incompetent.

Should I go for hatchets or pickaxes upgrades

none, combos are broken, every second hit doesn't register and you loose durability for nothing

Pickaxe, hatchets are pointless while you get a bunch of free pickaxes. Bow and gun are better, pickaxe is the last resort or for dealing with shit mobs.

I was able to procure 4 eggs, that I have to save for the end of the area to pass. Holy fuck is this game hell, like I'm not gonna call it bad, it has a system and had I understood it better could have avoided this, in fact, I kinda like how bullshit it is.

It only gets worse from here. I had a run where I just didn't have enough stamina to climb back up from a lower layer.

All the big enemies have death cutscenes, and if you fall off a cliff, you splat on the ground and make a big mess. The sound direction lets it down though, they should've copied Tomb Raider. Hearing Lara scream as she falls and then collapse onto the ground like a sack of potatoes sounded fantastic, in this game the audio is very weak even though the visuals aren't half bad.

The game’s actually more fun than I thought it would be. The greed of seeing a sparky far down a cliff that you might not be able to get, being hounded by enemies, running out of supplies because I went too deep. It flows pretty well. How’s the 4th layer?

4th layer blows its whole load in the first area, the rest is very simple and I cleared it on literally my second dive (first time was Riko's wild ride) while skipping half the rooms.

I'm at layer 2 and it's fucking hell. The FUCKING BIRDS never stop and touch me off of the ropes constantly. My weapons break constantly and I never have enough. Really enjoying it so far but it's starting to feel like a slog with all the backtracking that I already have to do.

Sadly the game will be low budget JP junk.

You should avoid attacking when you don't have to. Once you get to blue whistle you get fast travel so you don't have to backtrack as much.

The issue is that on the second layer the fucking birds will follow you and knock you off the ropes. The big birds too. The fast travel is nice but having to go through all the layers to leave is going to get annoying.
