still better than hearthstone

VNs are worse

It's good if you're a draftchad

What's a full set of ex beta power even go for these days? I have a set chilling in my safe.

>enemy player brought a milling deck
>you get to just auto lose the game because you didn't bring some super niche specific counter card
>get too much mana early
>lose
>get too little mana early
>lose
shit game

Would be great if it didn't have a rigged shuffler and blatantly forced 50/50.

this.

>it's good if you're a paypig
ftfy

thats a whole lotta words to say "i suck at magic and am poor"

DotP > Online > Duels >>>>>>>>> Arena

i would paypig to be honest if i could pay a monthly fee to get x amount of phantom drafts instead of being forced to play constructed

>t. Troons of the Coast paypig.

Current year magic is the gayest shit I’ve ever seen.

>Drafting costs so much gold
bros... I am dogshit at it, but I find it cool to build a deck based on bullshit

quick draft is rigged

Literally.

it's unironically wild how much money magic has managed to squeeze out of nerds over the years. you can easily just print your own cards now but people still shell out god knows how much every year.

To be fair though, if you're playing IRL it's the same price to draft

I'm unironically good enough to go infinite, even won $2,500 in the Crimson Vow event, but even premier draft is designed to assrape your gem

>skill based matchmaking
You will get paired upwards beyond your rank in an attempt to drop you to 50% win rate

>ladder darwinism
Decks that are better last longer in the ladder. With a very unbalanced set, you're looking at seeing the nearly same deck every single game because pods play other pods. The results being that the Tier 0 deck from each pod eats the other archetypes if the average tier 0 deck is better than the fed lower tier archetypes, resulting in a "forced" meta (example: Kaldheim)

>infinite criteria
Your win rate has to be fucking good. Some sets you can push up to 75%, some you're going to be in the 60s playing optimally. Vs skill based matchmaking, this is hard to do, and in unbalanced sets you're going to have a hard time keeping a high 60s winrate.

The upside is that this is the most viable way to "F2P" and have fun in MTGA. The downside is that this is only for a top percentage of players. Also don't even think of doing it without seed money AND profit buffers for learning curves of a fresh set, further putting this out of F2P realism.

>lose to a mill deck
How is this even possible? Doesn't everyone just play an aggro burn deck so they can win within 5 turns or less?

But you get actual cards, which you might not want, but you can resell, potentially making your money back.
