Eh, the dungeons and sidequests are good but 3D Zelda was already on a hot streak of completely missing the point of exploration and this game feels like one big double down on that mistake.

Its one of the worst Zelda games.

But even the worst Zelda game is better than 99% of all other video games.

>Fi reminding you your health is low
>even though the low heart beeping is enough of a reminder
The handholding in SS was insane.

In 10 years when the "exploration" meme makes every game a carbon copy skyward sword will feel like an inventive breathe of fresh air

Links Awakening is a fucking slog and you spent 60% of your total playtime switching your sword out for random shit
and I am tired of pretending it's not

Not really when the first half of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess did plenty to set precedent for Skyward Sword. And I do say all of this as a dungeonfag, Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda. But I feel for the explorationfags hard because until BotW, 3D Zelda fucking screwed them.

Skyward sword's levels and dungeons are 100x denser than anything found in WW or TP. So much more to interact with and see, with environments actually sized in accordance with the content in them. Way less padded hyrule field/ocean bullshit

How was SS HD?
I picked up Wii two times like ten years ago and dropped after the second dungeon, wasn’t feeling it. Motion Controls aren’t an issue for me but eh.

Wanna see if HD did anything different

my GOD

It's a good Zelda game but not a good game

wait a second

the absolute state of zelda fans

Too much re-visiting areas and the hub world being empty brings it down.

I dunno about the density so much, especially when you consider the sky is SS's stand-in for an actual overworld, but I will agree that it does waste a lot less space and it does make what interactive elements it possesses count. Even so, the regions are basically glorified extensions of the dungeons and the only really exploratory element they possess is the goddess cubes, and even with that dowsing still trivializes that concept. Even a game as linear as Twilight Princess still let you seek out golden bugs and poes with minimal handholding. Skyward Sword's regions give you the answer key to its one multiple choice test.

Why the fuck does every god damn game have to have exploration? Why can't it just be a linear dungeon diving game?

Unimpressive in my estimation. Nowhere near as lazy and insulting as Mario 3D All-Stars, but still pretty absurd they basically just sold a texture update of a 10 year old game at full price. And even then, it doesn't look that much better—lots of textures are still embarrassingly low-res. Motion controls weren't as big of a nightmare as I was expecting but were still frustrating enough to dampen my enjoyment—using the right analogue stick instead was also shitty because then you can't use the freecam. Honestly it's just more of Nintendo pumping out low-effort BS because they know people will lap it up regardless and my patience for it is running thin

Why would you expect Skyward Sword HD to be anything beyond slightly better textures and at an HD resolution?

damn that sucks. I was hoping they would change some in game things like with WWHD to address criticism.

I don't have a problem with that; I have a problem with it being sold for $60.

The original Zelda game was literally all about exploration

>How was SS HD?
I'm enjoying it right now. There's an option to turn off the motion controls and have a button-only control scheme. The sword swipes are then mapped to right analog stick. It definitely feels quirky and not as intuitive compared to the motion control scheme, but it gets the job done.

They did make Fi less intrusive and cutscenes skippable which were probably the biggest complaints in the OG version

better than botw that's for sure. at least it doesn't force me to "make my own fun! :D"

>zoomies pretending it wasn’t
But isn't Skyward Sword a zoomer zelda game?
>inb4 that's BotW
Anyway, I may be trippin, but iirc, the majority of complains were from veterans.

The dungeons and music were great, but the start was another slog, too much backtracking, overworld empty as hell, Fi nothing but a babysitter, and the story way too animu'd.
At least I cared enough to finish it though. Can't say the same for the next major "Zelda" game.

How can it possibly be a good game if the enemies look this lame?
