About to start Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin on Xbox 360. What am I in for?

Be warned it's not actually scholar. SotFS is amazing but this aint it.

Movement controls that feel straight out of a ps1 game and the most blatant enemy spam you’ve ever seen. Some of the dlc stuff is alright though.

level up adp , that you're priority get it to sub 30 to have any meaningful dodging
it's a good game but the worst of the trilogy

also preferably , you play it on your pc with mods to fix the omnidirectional movement

What happened to the 360 version? I played Sotfs on series X.

360 and ps3 are just vanilla ds2+dlc rebranded as Scholar.

The game is better when you dont level adp. And im tired of people saying this. You dodge better by lowering your equip load.

Wild. I can't help but feel most people hate this game because their experience of it is stuck in the PS3/360 era. No wonder.

There are two SotFS, one is 32 bit with all DLC included, the other is the 64bit with gaemplay/enemy placement changes & all DLC.
The 32bit is for PS3/Xbox360 and the 64bit is for PS4/XboxOne. Similar for PC except 32 bit is called Vanilla event hough the credits claim it is SotFS.
Aldia might fit in but it doesn;t matter.

That's exactly what is. You can have people arguing with one another having had two different experiences. I played both concurrently having really liked Scholar as sort of an experiment, and vanilla is bad. The lighting is broken, the enemy placement seems less fair and bloated, and there seems to be heavier tracking and just more jank fighting the enemies in vanilla than there is in scholar. There's also some scripting, enemy behavior changes, and level design adjustments that make scholar a lot more fun.

I have arund 2k hours of the original on xbox360, just enjoy it for the ride and realize that the game isn't purely linear at the start. Also that powerstancing is a thing.

My personal favorite style to go is pants only, no level ADP dual caestus build. I've done no death this way and it is just an absolute blast. Some areas are def unfinished, mostly drangleic castle, but I also recommend never boosting the brightness too high as DS2 has a lighting system they used to hide repetition of textures. You always see these screenshots of repeated textures, but it requires you to either cap brightness or install a fullbright mod.

Gets a bad rap, has some issues for sure, but nowhere near as bad as people make out, souls purists lose their shit over it but even a souls game with issues is better than most games on the market.
It's expansive, still as addictive as the rest of the games, and the art direction is FOOKING AWESOME M8
