level-5 is sad. all they had to do was keep making banger dark cloud, rogue galaxy games. but they decided to do whatever the fuck they're doing.
their actual downfall wasn't mobile games, their downfall was actually layton because it led them to doing almost exclusively handheld ds garbage, which back then was the equivalent to mobile games today.
ps2 games? bangers. their first psp game? banger. ps3 game even? serviceable. ds games? outside of layton, all completely awful. and their dive into making 3ds trash led to every subsuquent psp game they made also being the same level as their ds trash instead of more bangers like jeanne d'arc
they were a company that made such great games full of soul, and they might as well not exist for the past 10-15 years. it might be one of the saddest companies to think about how good they used to be honestly
