It's kinda like battle royale but you have quests and an inventory where you can equip shit on your character before a match and the match ends when you either die, leave the area through set extraction points or time runs out on the match

Just get emutarkov and try it if you really want it. Its 'le hardcore survival fps' but what that actually means is that you spend 30 minutes in a raid scurrying around from bush to bush like a rat, sipping apple juice between firefights over DVD players and praying to god that you make it out before a connection issue makes you lose a weeks worth of gucci gear. Then you spend 8hrs pimping your gun out like you're Xzibit only to realize that putting 4 lasers, 2 flashlights, a 23x scope, and drum mags on your beater AK74 is a fucking waste because you can just sprint around like a retard and kill people with an axe.
Or you have friends and you curbstomp everyone in 5 minutes and get your pickings of the sweet sweet wd-40, hard drives, and light bulbs.
It's a fun game but the pace can be slow. killing real people is pretty damn satisfying.

tried to get into this game but couldn't because i was too retarded to figure out the maps and where the fuck to go (which is essential or the game is basically impossible)

It's literally the best game ever made for like a week after every wipe while people's cheats have to update so everyone plays on the same playing field. Once the cheating and RMT starts getting into full swing the game becomes unplayable on every map but woods because every game has a hacker in it. (My past 9 shoreline raids have all had boxes looted behind locked doors). My PVP K/D for the first week of a wipe is probably 12-15:1. After about 3 weeks it's probably 2/3:1. The gunplay, medical system, maps, customization, movement, everything is brilliant... But it's all ruined when you can't trust the people you are playing against to not be running with hacks because most hacks take 4-5 months to get banned for using and by that time you've gotten more than your money's worth.
