I'm not an expert on character designs, but why is left considered kino and right considered shit?

because the right is derivative tripe and the left actually looks like it was made by an artist

Left is interesting, unique, and obviously high effort, while the right is dime-a-dozen shit we've seen thousands upon thousands of times.

This is more of a style issue. Right looks like run of the mill or dime a dozen work while the one on the left has a more unique feel and flow to it.

One contains authorial style and vision. The other is quite hard to place among other moe anime artists. One is hand drawn while the other looks to be done in a computerized artpad environment. The genshin costume design isn't bad at all but the art itself lacks a unique style.

Left is art right is derivative trash

Left oozes SOVL while right looks as generic as can be. You can literally see the photoshop layers and bucket usage. I screams of a commercial image meant to be plastered on adds.

Left looks like scribbles right looks like SOUL

>The genshin costume design isn't bad at all but the art itself lacks a unique style.
But people are complaining about the costume design, not the art.

Also, I might be living in a hole: Is it THAT derivative? Could you post similar ones?

I do not care for Amano's art. It insists upon itself.

Badass vs Fag shit

because Any Forums hates everything and will also tell you the left is shit
both are kino because
both anger the troons
both anger the disgusting pedophiles that inhabit Any Forums
also
reminder that if you like loli you are a pedophile that deserves death
if you are a troon, you also deserve death

Amano is a hack. Nomura is better.

Well, I like shota.

Left looks cool, right has too much clothes on. Show me her bellybutton and buttcrack.

It's not the design that is derivative but the style of animation. The art could have been drawn by just about any other anime artist out there.

Belt and zipperpilled

>her

>her
This is the real problem with all these troon designs.

Oh. My bad. Apologies, I don't play this game.
Left looks cool, right has too much clothes on. Show me his bellybutton and buttcrack. And make him look embarrassed about it.

left looks like something indiefag hipsters would worship. right is for soulless animefag pedos.

Both of them are shit to be honest.

Honestly right might just be the first "fitting" design for genshin's world. Even the kimono bitches looked like she was cosplaying.

>but why is left considered kino and right considered shit?
Rarity and style. If every single piece of media looked like left, everybody would pan it because they're dopamine/novelty addicted coomers. They want everything they look at to be new and exciting or as new and exciting as it was when they were 12 years old.
Right's only sin is that it's easily recognizable and thus safe. It's easy to like and because of that it's accessible.

You have to remind yourself that the people who huff their own farts enough to come up with motives to attack drawings do it to feel superior and not because they actually have valid points or reasons for what they're doing. You can tell this is true by the words and tone they use when they attack the drawing on the left. Their words are full of venom and vitriol, hallmarks of people who have long ago been victims of their own hatred for others.

what even is that mess on the right supposed to be? i thought this was a billion dollar budget game or something. looks like low quality trash with no thought put into its design

Don't really think it's a fair comparison, but the left just looks like some noble with a proper flowing coat and some colorful, poofy looking tunic underneath. It's pretty cohesive despite using a lot of color. The right just has a lot going on that doesn't entirely fit together. He's some kind of animal person with giant tufts of fur in his ears, green streaks in his hair, a gold earring, a top that is both a short-sleeve shirt and long sleeve, the shirt itself has tassels on the collar almost implying it's also a hoodie, gloves with random orange elements on the palms, two belts alongside woven purple and blue cords, billowing pants that cut off before the ankle, random medals and baubles everywhere, a big flower, and a bushy tail in the back that's a different color than his hair (may be lighting, but still).

There's just a lot going on. I don't think it's an awful design by any means, but it's hard to get a sense of what he is or what he represents. Whereas the guy on the left is pretty clearly some kind of noble of sorts that can afford s flowing black coat embroidered by gold elements, hiding a colorful tunic beneath. It's straightforward and gives you a pretty good sense of the character.

Then just use a Booru

left looks like something a middle schooler drew in an art class they got a C in. right is generic as fuck and generally badly designed. both are terrible, left because of the artstyle and right because of lack of depth or anything interesting being portrayed.

no one thinks tight is better than left, they just pretend it is, because it's older and made by some epic chink man

What about this one?

Nipples aren't puffy enough, no buttcrack, 2/10 wnjo

Square Enix Tax. And Bias Against Genshin simple as. If the right was made by Square Enix, and a Japanese person, it will be just as praised if not better.

Any Forums can justify all they want but in the end, they're just biased to hell.

I'm pretty sure a Japanese person did make the right.

Pretty goddamn busy admittedly. It does have the benefit of retaining a pretty consistent color palette though. Almost everything on her is a shade of white or red. That and her clothes, while impractical, still give a good sense that she's some mystical magic user or something. The flowing cloak tied around her neck by a thin golden chain, the baubles and loose scarf-like wrap hung at her waist, the overall thinner/looser clothing, all of it matches pretty well. It's just a fantastical look with a lot of floral elements that would match well with some mage or mystic.

Well, you got Terra on point.
Your previous analysis, however, got one detail wrong: Setzer is actually just a rich gambler, not nobility.
