Any thoughts on omori Any Forums?
Positives and Negatives are both welcome
Omori
i liked it but headspace sections tend to drag
Positives
>good ost
>fun characters
>some fun moments
>cool subject
>better gameplay than most games in its genre
Negatives
>shit dialogue
>handles taboo topic poorly
>pointless filler
>poorly written with fanfic tier writing
>pacing is awful and drags the story
I didn't play because I don't like style and drawings
>way too much chore content
>way too much cringe
>what said
>genuinely great amazing story when they actually get to the good shit
>black space 1 but specially black space 2 is actual kino, excelent yume-nikki-style exploration, except instead of being rather random, it focuses on one overall aesthetic and the game's plot, expanding on it greatly
>ost quality varies a lot but theres some amazing tracks, primarily the ones made by Pedro Silva
>actually a lot of content
>super memorable
>the sweetheart-related parts of the game are the longest shit in headspace and probably the most annoying and least entertaining ones
>the game feels like an insanely creative person made a fuckton of amazing stuff and interconnections and fun entertaining horror elements and the masterpiece that the hidden areas of black space are, but then proceeded to fill the actual rest of the game with mostly cringy shit you'd expect from a colorful earthbound clone
>chorey gameplay but a huge upgrade from normal jrpg formula, emotions system is good and you can do funny shit like the KEL nuke
>mostly undiscussable on Any Forums, or at least it was a few months back, due to pedo-foot-shotafags
genuinely worth playing if you like the genre. Do be warned theres a lot of reasons one may find it literal garbage, and also a lot of reasons one may find it an amazing top tier game
The whole whale level could've easily been scrapped from the game. It dragged on, provided basically zero narrative benefit outside of some scenes hinting at the headspace group starting to forget Basil, and otherwise felt like a lame "final boss" to the dream world if you were going for the true ending.
Also, I wish there were more moments in the game outside of boss fights where manipulating emotions and utilizing skills properly was worth it. Pretty much every encounter outside of bosses could be auto-attacked. On top of that, if you aren't going for the Hikkikomori route, you get shafted out of some of the best bosses in the game. It's a shame there isn't a way to encounter that content in the main route. I guess it gives some value to replaying it, but it does suck knowing I'd have to level up all over again from start to finish. Despite the narrative being what it is, a NG+ feature would've helped out a lot.
Ignoring all of that though, the game's phenomenal. The music is fantastic, the art is pretty good in spots, environments are interesting to explore and have lots of secrets/hidden bosses, the real world sections always felt super impactful to which I was always looking forward to them, the characters are incredibly endearing as a whole with proper motivations/reasons for drifting apart, and the story is pretty well done. Obviously it's not a perfectly told narrative, but it hit me like a truck at certain points and developed everything in a way where I kept getting caught off guard by new information. And the fact that the true ending leaves off with Sunny just saying he has to tell the group something is such a perfect way to keep things open ended while showing what's actually important. It doesn't really matter what happens next, just that you reached that point.
I adore the game. It gets dumped on a lot, but I got 28 hours of a gut-wrenching experience that still sticks with me in spots.
My only disappointment with it is that the Ikikomori route doesn't give you unique endings, it was the thing that held me back from doing a second run.
Genuinely felt like a love it or hate it kind of game, like stated.
If you can latch onto the characters or general atmosphere of the game, you'll likely have a blast with how the story plays out and all the weird shit that happens. But if you're turned off by the characters, not feeling the story, or cringe at some of the admittedly pretty rough moments (that hamster scene was almost a deal breaker for me), then it'll probably be a slog that you get nothing from by the end.
Hell, it's surprisingly long for this kind of RPGmaker game too, so depending on whether you instantly like or hate it, that feeling just gets doubled down on due to the playtime. If you like it, there's so much fucking content to sink into that you'll probably love. If you hate it, the stretched out segments and constant dipping in and out of important story beats will likely kill any semblance of patience you have.
I enjoyed the game immensely, but I don't fault people for bouncing off it. I genuinely believe it's the type of game you know within an hour of playing whether it'll be an instant classic for you or just a meandering, pretentious slog.
No one wants to go thru humprey
It was a good game, worth one playthrough.
Too much filler by the end, though.
Beat the game and wanted to do the other route
but can't bear the thought of doing the dungeons again
will have to wait a few years
>great ending
>really good music
>filled to the brim with filler
>humour falls flat
>probably the worst JRPG combat system I ever had to deal with, it's bad even by RPGmaker standards
Positives
>I felt how Sunny’s internal conflicts with his self hatred were well written
>Headspace sorta fits well with how dreams work, with how it mixes the weirdness that occurs at time with certain thoughts were embedded into the dream
>I felt Basil’s anxiety was written decently
>I found the emotion mechanic unique
>I felt it was interesting how many different coping mechanisms were shown in the game
Negatives
>Aubrey is forgiven too easily after all she does.
>The true ending relies on a small optional thing you can do, but you can get locked out of it if you don’t do it early enough.
>Some connections to the real world felt like they shouldn’t have existed since Sunny didn’t know about them yet.
>You could completely ignore the emotion mechanic in the main route without much trouble.
Kino game with a shitton of boring filler
I wanna fuck Sunny and Basil and Kel and Hero in the ass btw
i have never seen a worse opinion about omori
>>handles taboo topic poorly
lol
this isn't Any Forums you gay retard
>handles taboo topic poorly
How so?
>Negatives
I can't kill this ghost child.
That's it, pretty bad in opinion.
it talks about suicide, and that's a bad thing because... it just is, ok?
Pretty good game, and OMOCAT makes normalfags seethe, which is a nice bonus.
omoFat
The only hate I'm seeing OMORI get besides OFFfags and contrarians on Any Forums are LISAfags who are threatened because it is the more popular rpgmaker. I like them all btw.
