Hogwarts Legacy

I'm hoping that time spent in Hogwarts will be a sort of school simulator in a similar vain as Bully. I hope that you will be able to attack anyone at will, but have prefects running after you and taking away house points if you're caught. There's so much potential for gameplay mechanics like that which will make the school and world in general feel more alive.
I doubt it'll happen though, Hogwarts will probably be little more than a glorified tutorial zone, where you take classes in the form of missions, feeling disjointed from the main portion of the game that will most likely be set in the outside areas.

Is this game actually coming out. Haven't heard anything in forever.

Hopefully it's pretty immersive just as a school sim. I'm already a bit pissed off with the generic "chosen one" story they're bullshitting into it when it should have just been about uncovering a mystery in the school and competing with other students.

Less edgy like the final movies and more like Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets story-wise. A wholesome magic world to explore. Don't remove the edgy shit as a whole, but tone it down. Keep torture scenes with crucio and death scenes with avada kedavra.

I'm angry that the Room of Requirement isn't just a fun easter egg that appears if you do the proper steps and is instead your generic video game protagonist hub where you do crafting and watch mobile game timers tick down.

Indeed. Seems a bit bizarre that they'd go with that, when most people who are going to play this game just want to insert themselves into the wizarding world and immerse themselves in Hogwarts as a regular student. The whole "Chosen one" storyline is so played out and boring at this point, and just feels like a lazy way to paint the MC as a hero despite being handed everything.

It is my sincere hope that this "game" will finally open people's eyes to the truth that Rowling's universe is the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
