how many times have you replayed this game?

Many. But for some reason I still haven't played episodes and I never will.

im reinstalling right now

At least a few times, Episode 2 is the best of the series though

Can't wait to replay it again once the VR mod is out

I usually play episode 2 once every two years and stop once the final mission with the car and faggotsson devices

Too many and I'm doing it again when the VR mod comes out

its not great, but its not that bad of a level either.

>mods it so Broken Symmetry plays instead

>start gmod
>use permanent player corpses addon
>try to do the entire map with only 1 hp
Fun times

Why is that? I played half life/CS/DoD and other mods all the time, was so excited for HL2, got a free copy from a Radeon video card, and played it a ton. But once the episodes came out, I never really played them. I finished episode 1 years later, and never even started 2. I don't know why I wasn't compelled to play the episodes.

not as many as the first, which is superior.

goat stage

Coming out in VR soon and I'll replay it again

>Vortal Combat starts playing

>car hits invisible wall
>Eon Trap starts playing
>quickly hide in nearby abandoned house
>can see dozens of enemies surrounding the place from the windows
One of my favorite moments

The Episodes are better, play them already.

Now that dust settled, who was Gman?

I just started another replay yesterday
This time, I'm going to get all the achievements

>setup the turrets perfectly
>not a single one goes down
I honestly wish there were more turret defense sections / an entire game mode dedicated to it.

make your own and profit from it

The longer time goes on the less I understand Half Life

It could easily have 9 games like Halo or Call of Duty, but for some reason Gabe decided "Nope, 2 games and we'll never make a video game ever again"

How did they miss the mark so badly?

It's because of "Work on whatever you want" politics in valve
Nobody wants to work on something that requires actual effort, when they can just shit out artifact and call it a day

They put all their creativity into Xen but the end result was a convoluted mess.

Xen did drag on so long.

Exactly. They were high on sniffing their own farts that no one said the truth.

I liked Xen...

I liked it.

I dunno, I feel like they did a good job. It being its own take on HL1 while still being mostly faithful is nice when you've already played the original hundreds of times.
Black Mesa VR when?

eh it was fine up till Xen, then it turned to shit
the vort town was kinda cool I guess but the rest was too long and repetitive.

Yep. The beggining of Xen was good - fantastic, even. The sights really are amazing, and running into the several abandoned mobile labs felt so interesting.

And then you're connecting portals for ages and stuck in that factory for an eternity. It should have been short and sweet, instead they made Xen bad in their own way.
