2025 at the earliest. They will test the Rollback now with FighterZ 1, then announce it next year with any luck. They also may be waiting for any form of animated media to introduce new characters and form (in animated form, I am aware of the manga, just as much as I am aware how the games never touch it without animation)

If anything, this just give me more reasons to believe there is a FighterZ 2 in the works. There was no reason for Namco to greenlight a new season, if they already had enough time to work the Movie characters in Xenoverse. FighterZ could had easily made a season with the Gammas (Either both or as a two in one), and Orange Piccolo, maybe Gohan Beast. But whatever they got two or three, even four characters out the movie, that would had been the "selling" point, and then they could had fill in two or three deep cuts as well for complete season.

Probably Q2 2024 at the earliest.
The new-gen upgrade is almost certainly an alpha test for FighterZ 2.
DBFZ sold over 8 million copies and still has a very active community despite the shitty delay-based netcode.

why do people keep parroting this? Why would they bother with a time consuming and expensive internal code restructuring to add in rollback for a newer gen port if they were just going to have a sequel? they'd just make a sequel with the rollback and be done with it.
If anything i expect the "no plans for more content or balance" to be a half lie, and the re-release is going to get new DLC if it actually sells.
