This used to be the norm back when everybody and their mom were trying to rip off AVGN wholesale. Then people found out you can make money off of it and most of them cleaned up their act (to an extent anyways).
What's funny is that Youtube channels have absolutely nothing to do with journos being garbage, it's the journos themselves being garbage. I don't know when it happened, but at some point game journos were mass replaced with a bunch of shitty, faux-intellectual, san franciscan fuckwits who either A) Don't play video games or B) Hate everything that has to do with video games, so they wind up using their occupation to use games as a soapbox for whatever is in the now.

I really enjoyed some of SMG4's stuff. He made SM64 and gmod bloopers starring himself and various Mario characters. The videos typically consisted of a simple plot accompanied by a bunch of random and stupid shit (one of the running gags was that Mario liked to get naked and/or obsess over spaghetti). Nowadays the videos tend to be more story focused, less comedic, more censored, and more corporate (his channel is now backed by his own country's fucking government somehow). A lot of videos focus on some FotM zoomer shit like Fall Guys or Among Us. They also started doing a lot of reaction videos. They do make a good video every once in a while but the channel is still a shell of it's former self
