Okay so I recently purchased Death Stranding Directors cut...

Okay so I recently purchased Death Stranding Directors cut. Got to the second map area but decided to complete a few standard orders back at Port Knot to get 5 stars connection. Started encountering alot of BTs and finding it extremely annoying. Life is too short to be driving over rocky terrain and walking on black sludge.

The gunplay is shit.
Avoiding BTs is shit - it's not really a horror game, so avoiding BTs is just tedious as hell.

The aesthetics and story is 10/10 so far though and I don't want to miss out.

Am I getting filtered? Encourage me to keep playing bros.

I enjoyed the game but the story was actually the reason I quit. Gameplay got repetitive and the story was just too shit to continue. It was also very annoying how the map was just one straight line and devs expected me to just go back in fourth for 60 hours.

Just kill them? Lol

Am into conclude from this, that Kojima is the video game industry equivalent of Jiro?

japs just make shitty games and they fill them with reddit humor. Secret to killing enemies in this game is literally poo poo.

Play the fucking game, or stay filtered for all I care.

>gunplay is shit
It's not a shooter.
>Avoidign BTs is shit
git gud.
>Am I getting filtered?
Yes.
Death Stranding was fun and addicting as fuck. Played it like 10-12 hours a day, nonstop, for a few weeks.

>git gud
Doesn't apply here. I've completed DS1, DS3, BB, and Sekiro if that matters. I've never quit any of those games because I understand that when I git gud, the game will be fun. Death Stranding, on the other hand, I can git gud, but I just don't see the fun. I can navigate around BTs and plan routes carefully to get cargo delivered spotless - but where's the fun?

>Death Stranding
You wouldn't get it.
The best part of the game is once the gay story ends.
Port Knot is basically the tutorial area.
If you zipline, you can pass through BT areas without triggering them at all.
You need to finish the gay, weird, bad story to unlock all the stuff, then grinding the endgame is the best best part and it turns pure kino, rolling over dunes on your motorcycle getting thumbs up from other players and pissing into hot springs (mushroom holograms show where other players have pissed, the more mushrooms, the more pissing)

Directors cut is good and all but I hate the expanded combat options. I don't like feeling comfortable in combat, I preferred feeling like OHFUCK OH FUCK I'm gonna waste this package or try to hit them with a car, now that there's all this extra shit I think the well is poisoned

>I've completed DS1, DS3, BB, and Sekiro
Well at least now we know it's a bait thread.

YOU ARE MY BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE. WITHOUT YOU, I'D BE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CLIFF

>I'm a fat fuck pregnant woman who drops everything

The story holds the game together, no matter how bad people think it is. The game would be completely soulless and depressing without it.

no way

I like the story, gay reddit moment but it hits real hard if you have children

is kojima even married w/ kids? how the fuck would he know what being a parent is like? he's too busy posting pictures of hamburds and cuckqueening the actor who plays silent

Yes, he made Peace Walker to get closer to his son because he likes games like Monster Hunter but not Metal Gear.

I have no idea, maybe he watched the right movies, but by the end it had me beside myself thinking of everything I'd do to protect my children from harm and the fear of having to bury my own babies

I don't have kids but it definitely hit me hard. Felt like Shinzo Abe financed the game. Interstellar also did the same for a similar reason.

I think it's a decent story and the general world is so cool to me, the idea of this apocalypse that has literally broken the boundary between life and death. It's a post apocalypse really.

But they needed to tone it down. Think Shadow of the Colossus. That would've been worse if you had the constant exposition of Death Stranding.

Just bring hematic grenades and kill all BT scum
Ezpz, only problem is you should leave your vehicles while you clear them all out first.

finding port knot was honestly the most ludo experience I've had in games since "Fission Mailed"

I think it's very interesting this game came out right when COVID came out and now the world has it's similarities to the divided splinter communities of Death stranding

I felt this about finally meeting Heartman, best character in the game for me.

while covid was definitely around when it released, people only really became hyper aware a few months later. Kojima said people would understand death stranding in time but that it may take a decade. This poses two questions:
1. Why did Kojima create COVID?
2. What the fuck is going to happen within 10 years?

I think Kojima meant that the internet is really driving us apart, as well as the clear allegory for him planning on nuking the world to the point of complete devastation on November 9th, 2024

Absolute kino and those who get filtered will never know

>tfw we have to disarm all the nukes in MGSV by then or its over for us

It could have been toned down for sure, but for something like Death Stranding it's hard to pin down the balance.
It's basically a complete mess but that's sort of the point because the world has gone crazy and everything is surreal. SotC is much more serious business so the minimalist delivery is perfect.

the only part I thought was trash was fighting Mads in the WW1 WW2 and Vietnam flashbacks
those could have been done way better than the poor shoot outs they were
the highlight for me was carrying Mama to her sister, and taking my own route I had found through the mountains
I probably missed out on a lot because I never used vehicles really, just walked and ran with the tethered carts to my back and a pair of all terrain legs, and the only weapon I ever used was the bola gun to snare BTs either to run around or then cut their cords
then you get to the end and you're shooting multi rocket launchers at the fucking space whale

this fight was so unnecessary and in poor taste lmao, Kojima trying to recapture the magic of Old Snake vs Liquid Ocelot but without the same emotional investment

>He didn't enjoy punching the shit out of Troy Baker
Ngmi

yes but the open world is so beautiful and large that I'd have appreciate just being able to absorb it and have a bit more environmental storytelling happening.

tfw I want more of this gameplay but Kojima will probably never work on sequels again after metal gear, and no indies are trying to make strand-type games yet

It's just a trope he likes, don't take it too seriously.

Death stranding got a sequel, and Norman Reedus fucking spoiled it.

I won't argue with you there. If he was going to exposit, I would've just preferred everything to be an email instead of the cutscenes reiterating what we already know. But it didn't take away from the game for me

I'm honestly glad this is happening. I just don't know where the fuck they would take the story.

Also on one hand maybe this is a chance for them to refine shit and make it more focused on exploration and traversal rather than combat. But the Director's Cut showed the opposite...
