They wanted to make it a chimney, which is actually a super efficient design. The SeX pushes out so much hot air from the components that it makes your room noticeably warmer after an hour of gaming.

There actually are, that's just the demo SeX that they let the media fuck around with to show off how cool their design is compared to Sony's strategy of throwing a bigger heatsink at the problem (and then cutting it down to save money)

This actually an incredible design. They perfectly used all the space needed and it's an actual box. The PS5 doesn't look nearly as good.

They made the top concave just so people wouldn't be tempted to sit things on it, didn't they?

I will never understand how THIS, and Sony increasing its prices, isn't as big of a controversy as the Xbox One not having physical games, despite Steam being exactly just that. This is way worse.

The general public has no idea the heatsink was replaced. They don't even know what a heatsink is. Console revisions like this happen literally all the time. The 360 had a bunch not only for RROD shit but for stuff like adding the HDMI port. The OG PS4 has different power on and disc eject buttons than a later revision of the same model. Unless it's a very noticeable in your face change normalfags have no idea. I have no idea why you're surprised at something like that
