On PC, perhaps. One of the biggest issues with the EU is that many Europeans do not have stable internet access (much like those of us with only one ISP for an option), so it's very important that they install from a physical disk.

Now that telecommunication monopolies are playing the 5G card, and paying politicians to look the other way, it's only a matter of time before physical media goes the way of the dinosaur, and those 1000% unnecessary digital fees, go higher.

The failed/forgotten class action lawsuit against digital storefronts was one of the biggest failures of justice on the internet.

The disk is basically a trigger to install the game, and of you try selecting the game without the disk in your Xbox it asks if you have the rights to play. Would post a pic of the screen but rn all my installed games are digital, not disc.

This is one of the few modern games designed for offline play. Even the digital premium version doesn't require any check-ins after installation.

If the game fits on the bd, the data is there, but the console will download patches that were released. If the game is bigger, it will download the missing data. Not sure if you can play it offline, but I assume so. You may be required to login after x days once to keep it working.

They sell boxes of fortnite/apex and what not (im pretty sure) that just contain a dlc code but it would be very rare aside from that. Ducktales I know is one that did just contain a code and it was a shit storm. The destiny expansions probably do the same thing.
