Elden ring lore thread

Last thread we all started to agree Marika might have been the main reason for everything bad in game some anons posted interesting points
>all the God's we see are closely tied to there aspect rarely deviating
>The greater will is supposed to be an ORDER GOD
>it makes no sense for him to go around starting wars and genociding
>Marika for some reason was about to be replaced even though she supposedly did everything right
>Truth might be the GW didnt like what she was doing at all and she retaliated by setting up the shattering
>ER has alot of christian themes one of the memorable openings is women getting us thrown out of paradise
>the greater will might have abandoned the lands between LONG ago because of Marika and shes just been creating problems and starting wars so we dont notice this is soft confirmed with how the fingers cant get an answer from the GW for thousands of years sometimes
>Gideon Ofnir makes a throw away statement saying Marika intends for us to struggle(fight) for eternity
what do you guys think?reaching or plausible?

SEX WITH RANNI
SMOL DOLL TITTIES

That makes sense, but why'd she do that? Just to fuck with GW?

she was given near godlike powers with tons of followers
>GW says go and spread my teachings
i imagine she took some liberties and gave people the choice of join or die as you see she mainly attacked anything that could be a threat to her like Ranni's family or the giants

A lot of "tears" in ER:
>Sacred Tears
>Mimic Tears
>Larval Tears
>the Tears for the Physick (Crimsonburst, Opaline, Cracked, etc.)
>Flask of Crimson/ Cerulean Tears
>Teardrop Scarabs
>Celestial Dew: A hidden Tear found in the Eternal City/ Also known as a Night Tear.

Ranni was approached by the Two Fingers to replace Marika
That means the Two Fingers/GW doesn't have any problems with the Carians
That means that Miquella/Malenia were abject failures as Empyreans since they were created to be a better replacement than Ranni

Probably why Miquella threw a bitch fit and had Godwyn killed.

thats actually another good point shows the GW prob didnt actually hate Ranni's family and believe Godwyn's death was Ranni's doing

Another Elden Ring Lore thread on Any Forums?
Posting GOAT theories then

>"Eye of Death" in DaS dropped by Basilisks
>ER Basilisks share eyes with Godwyn, Prince of Death
Deepest lore.

When Marika and Radagon underwent their defining schism, the former aspect was deprived of her ability to transform into a well endowed futanari amazon. It is said that this was the moment that the golden twinkle disappeared from Godfrey's eyes.
Banished though he was from the realms of the Erdtree for refusing to share a bed with his disempowered queen, Godfrey held Marika's foretelling close to his heart, that one day her mighty cock and balls would return.

I don't think the Giants were given a choice, they followed a known god already who's sphere of influence was fire. Everything about them was completely anathema to what the Erdtree and G.O. was trying to set up. Then again I don't really see the logic of completely wiping them out as opposed to finding sympathizers or ways to incorporate what they know. They made peace with dragons and they spew as much fire as any Fire Giant, plus lightning and they had their own E.L. and a god as well. Seems kinda dumb to not have some bigass giants fighting for you and protecting Leyndell.

The lore in elden ring seems really cool until you realize how fucking nonsensical it is
at least the other fromsoft games made sense within the framework of their worlds

The giants seem to mostly keep to themselves yeh i have no idea why she bothered trying to wipe them out even in game all it would take was the giants coming together to end the erdtree by how easy we burn it after the shattering

Everybody always says this like some parrot and NEVER explains how its nonsensical in the first place.
You might as well have said nothing.

it doesnt seem any worse than other titles it just leaves room for discussing

I had no idea that was a popular opinion. Maybe it’s popular because it’s true?

My problem is there is just zero explanation or motivation for most of the characters, world and main plot of becoming le elden lord.
And if your answer is reading item descriptions will solve everything then i don’t fucking know what to tell you

>My problem is there is just zero explanation or motivation for most of the characters, world and main plot of becoming le elden lord.
theres reasons and motivations all over the place what your complaining about is there not blatantly beating you over the head with it which is what alot of games do today so i cant blame you

This is literally true for all Dark Souls games. ER gives about as much explanation for the players motivation as all the other games.
Enya in the roundtable and some other NPCs tell you that becoming Elden Lord is your goal because it will mend the world at least somewhat. The other mending rune quests all have their twists
Ranni on the other hand wants a new age entirely which is pretty self evident

If you think we dont have much motivation to become elden lord in ER, then so do none of the other protagonists have any motivation to prolong the age of fire in DS.

>The greater will is supposed to be an ORDER GOD
>it makes no sense for him to go around starting wars and genociding
The war with the fire giants was started because the flame of the fell god is the only thing capable of burning/destroying the erdtree

>Miquella threw a bitch fit and had Godwyn killed.
Did we play the same game? Ranni had Godwyn killed, Miquella had nothing to do with it

It doesn’t need to be blatant. Dark souls 1 story while also being vague and confusing starts out immediately giving you the whole history and genesis of the world youre playing in. Every aspect of the lore melds with the gameplay perfectly, from dying, respawning, healing, gaining souls, quitting and going hollow, NPC’s with coherent storylines that mesh with the main plot, and all of this isn’t blatantly told to you, you experience it.

I think DaS1 was lightning in a bottle when it comes to building a world and lore. FromSoft have tried to replicate it to varying levels of success but ultimately fail to capture what made dark souls 1 such a special experience, even if you didn’t understand every aspect of the lore. Elden Ring fails to draw me into caring narratively what’s going on, care about the characters or world I’m in, or care why I am even becoming the Elden lord in the first place.

>Budding Horn: "This horn began to sprout on a beast that typically bears no horn. Perhaps it's a vestige of the primordial crucible"
>Crucible Hornshield: "An ancient holiness dwells within. The crucible horn skewers foes when performing shield bashes."
So, horns are uniformly associated with the Crucible, which is essentially the source of life in the Lands Between and related to the Primeval Current. Omens have horns, the Seedbed Curses are full of Omen horns.
What are the implications?

I mean, this one present it as a joke, but it genuinely seems believable to me. I don't really see any good explanation for why Deathroot would cause his body to grow a fucking mermaid tail out of all things and he's not a human anyway, so why couldn't he have one originally? Would also fit all those huge ass artificial water reservoirs all around the capital.
The truth is, he's not called "The Golden" because of blonde hair
He's Godwyn the Goldfish

I would unsheathe my horn to Roderika, if you catch my tokyo drift.

>Roderika
A man of culture, I see.

All the demigods and important figures seem to have some association with an animal or creature of some kind
>Marika - Maliketh/Elden Beast
>Godfrey - Serosh
>Morgott and Mohg - many different animal features due to being omens; horns, tails, wings, etc
>Godwyn - dragons, possibly fish or flies
>Radahn - horses
>Rykard - snakes
>Ranni - Blaidd/wolves
>Malenia and Miquella - butterflies
>Godrick - spiders
Only ones I'm not sure about are Radagon and Rennala

I feel overly irritated by people who engage in ER lore speculation.
DS lore is more understandable to want to analyse, but the ER lore is just so hackneyed and poorly written that i find it baffling that anyone finds it interesting and worth thinking about.
