Are there any other examples of a leak literally saving a game?

Are there any other examples of a leak literally saving a game?

Fuck you Any Forums answer me

k

probably no other. Quick rundown? Did they plan for it to be a generic shooter? I dont think that was the case

Any Forums thought the game was going to be garbage, then a level leaked and changed peoples minds. I don't think this has happened to anything else.

It was actually kind of incredible.

The marketing, while cool, made it seem like Call of Deus Ex. Then Detroit leaked and it literally turned into unending praise overnight.
I can't really think of another leak like that. Crysis 2 had a really major one a few months before launch but Any Forums hated the game (though I still like it personally).

it was pretty garbage though

I remember MGSV having the opposite effect. After Ground Zeroes everyone was fucking hyped and NUUCCLEEEAR before even that.
But it turns out, after all the Any Forums posting for YEARS that gameplay > story, it turned out the best gameplay in the entire series didnt matter

FOX engine is still recognized as one of the best ever. It feels like a bad example because the moment we got our hands on it wonderful things happened regardless of the story.

I really like Crysis 2 as well. It's bombastic in a Hollywood way that so many have tried to emulate but can't capture.

Bump

Literally same can be said about DX: Mankind Divided

Yes I save Malik every time

OG is actually still superior on all fronts. It had its limitations, but HR was far too much a hand-held tourist attraction vs Deus Ex's exploration.

>DX: Mankind Divided
it had the best maps
that's about it

>But it turns out, after all the Any Forums posting for YEARS that gameplay > story
Narrative has literally always been superior to story. No one sells a game on the promise that "the buttons press good", but they ARE sold on the premise and the story. Licenced games are a thing because players want to play in THAT world and THAT story. Would the Spider-Man game have sold even a fraction as many copies if it was an OC on the front of the box?

>Any Forums thought the game was going to be garbage
Wow, Any Forums was right about something for once.
>then a level leaked and changed peoples minds
Nevermind, the universe righted itself.

*Superior to gameplay, of course.

Any Forums is never right.

ah yes that's why fortnite, minecraft and gtao sold so well
the story
