Games where you play the villain

Why don't more of these exist? Name a few, and ones you want made.

does breath of fire 4 count?

Sengoku Rance.

Henry White from Yesterday. Actually the intro is fucking amazing. You expected to play as the typical beta nerd until he reveals himself as a serial killer
I hope they make a third game

xbox games

Is that story over yet? Who was suppressing his human side and making him not care about killing? Did his underlings kill him together?

>Ainz-sama
>villain

Maybe he's just doesn't care about killings and stuff???

Dungeons trilogy in humble bundle. Are they any good?

Maybe. It might just be a skeleton skill when he gets too emotional he reverts back.

>tfw someone had the idea to make an Overlord metroidvania
>then some absolute retard made the MC of said game a throwaway fapbait waifu from S1

Still fucking seething, literally the one genre Ainz could concievably be balanced for gameplay in and they don't let you fucking play as the gamer skeleton, I am unfcomfortably mad.

ur right
the human emotion suppressing is just cause he's an elder lich so it just auto triggers when his emotions get to rowdy

Overlord is garbage.

Yeah, but what else is there, Jojo? Fuck that.

I'm more hurt that it's a bland game.

I don't think the writer did anything thorough 'rona and then got depressed or someshit and threw a tantrum due to fan translations and decided to cut the story short. Last thing I remember reading was the duel between the protag and the dragons power suit avatar and then something about going to visit the elves. There hasn't been anything new in 2 years for non-moonrune readers I think.

What game?

Dark Half.
Game is split between Hero/Villain and the demon lord mechanics make it interesting while also feeling super fucking powerful
Morrowind with Great House Dagoth mod is very fun, albeit buggy. Especially if you take the secret ending and betray Dagoth Ur
Tell me, user. I played BoF 1 and 2 on a hacked xbox many moons ago with fond memories. Should I try the series
That sounds sad. The orange suit guy seems like he'd make a fun merchant

Why are skeletons the best protags?

I mean there is a tag for it on steam: Villain Protagonist,
There aren't much of it because it is... well a niche. Like all games used to be before the entertainment exploded into the mainsteam and thus the genres or types of games which got overshadowed by pretty much the mobile market remained what it always was. Games for a small but specific group.

Anyways here are some I can list off the top of my head:
>Iratus: Lord of the Dead
>Dungeon Keeper (the old one)
>Skyrim (heavily modded to your tastes)
>Knights of the Old Republic (dark side playthrough)
>Tyranny (you literally start off being evil)
>Kenshi
>Might and Magic Dark Messiah
Thats all that immediately comes to mind.

Overlord is a prime example of how series focused around a game or being in a game or whatever only work if the game's mechanics are apparent to the viewer. It's why yugioh, despite every anime being cringe, is still regarded fondly because viewers can at the very least follow what whacky tactical actions the characters are following. Characters in overlord just rattling off lists of random spell names with no rhyme or reason just does not compel in the same way.

BoF3 is the best overall game in the series. 4 is almost there but is clearly underdeveloped in some areas by comparison. What 4 has is a semi-dual narrative where you get to play as the villain during some points in the story.

I mean its pretty apparent if you've ever played an rpg or ttrpg before, which I guess is likely the target audience for this kind of thing.

that would be the case if it focused on high-level combat, the only real instance of that was ainz v shalltear. The entertainment for me comes from everyone's reaction to ainz and by extension the sorcerous kingdom
