I haven't played wing diver too much but it seems to be mostly about energy management and bringing proper weapon selection for the situation. That last bit is the kicker I think.

Knowing when you can use partial charges on some weapons is something I found cool.
The stardust cannons and thunder crossbows can stun enemies and do some chip damage while replenishing energy for when you need a full charge to remove frogs.
