How the fuck do you make the canon ending the one that shits all over the themes of your game?

How the fuck do you make the canon ending the one that shits all over the themes of your game?

I know the last act was rushed but fuck me, why the fuck is letting the Tyrant continue to be a Tyrant the fucking good ending? Dude fucked everything up and made all the worse decisions possible while still acting like he did nothing wrong while slowly pile driving the world into the void.

Fuck this shit, I wasted over 100 hours of my life to see that shitty ending

If all the previous writing you saw in the game didn't tip you off about the writing being shit I don't know what to tell you.

why would I care about that
in my game I took divinity
that's all that matters

it's a reference to how Hitler did nothing wrong and was in the right

I wish Lucian had the courtesy to shoot himself instead of making me deal with that slog of a final fight

Idk user I just played the game because I simped for the red prince

Did you get cucked to save the empire?

Its a shit game

Surprise, surprise

The game only got so well reviewed because no one ever makes it past tutorial island or reapers coast.

>I know the last act was rushed but fuck me, why the fuck is letting the Tyrant continue to be a Tyrant the fucking good ending?

Why not? Happens in real life. Saddam was the bad guy, but the place became objectively worse when he was taken down.

Remember theres no such thing as a perfect solution, just tradeoffs, with some being better than others.

Because there are clearly better options available that are thematically consistent but it feels like Lucian is just favoured by the writer.

He consistently fucks up and causes massive problems then makes things worse with his solutions but the game still acts like he's a saint.

It's annoying as fuck, like when the writer self inserts into their own fiction and then no matter what that character does the narrative acts like their in the right despite it being something morally reprehensible like in this situation with Genocide, Literal torture till your soul becomes a weapon and I have no mouth yet I must scream enslavement of people into literal items.

All of this again, while there are better options that don't involve any of that.

I liked the game but I think it lacked interaction between the origin characters. They don't really address each other outside of cutscenes. They didn't feel alive to me, I wanted them to have banter while fighting/exploring but they're silent 90% of the time.

It's really weird that those conversations where everybody just stands around and says their opinion on something have no effect or intractability between characters even though they did it in the previous game.

>enslavement of people into literal item
you missed the entire point of the story because you're too busy injecting your irl mortality into translating what's happening

people in divinity are just batteries who think they're people, they're golems, amalgamations, accidents, literal fragments of gods with no concept of what it means to be whole. it's the equivalent of your blood declaring itself independent free-thinking if you were to cut your finger, they are nonsense in the shadow of real divinity

>game was suppose to have more chapters
>at least one chapter for the elven lands, one chapter for the lizard kingdom and one chapter for the dwarf kingdom

I'll give you a pass because you've obviously never played the previous games.
Lucian is the player character from the first game. He's just some dude that became a god. The other games present him as some sort of perfect, amazing, never failing idol and that's supposed to be weird to people who play the first game.
It's on purpose, OP.

The god plot of divinity 2 is just a rip off of the matrix

Ok, I'll bite. Explain.

>Lucian is the player character from the first game.
???
what
the PC from first game is a sentinel at the literal End Of Time Forever guarding a box with satan in it

it would make absolutely no sense for them to once again abandon their post for something as trivial as lucian's role in the world

>he thinks Larian started making games with Original Sin
Sup zoomie

>NOOOO I NEED CONSTANT QUIPPING AHHHH WHEDON SAVE ME

It's funny because one the most common meme criticisms I see leveled against the game is "marvel quip dialogue"

Why not just pick a different ending?

I think that would be easier to accept if his ending being canon didn't clash so thematically with the actual games story.

Basically any time I play another one of these games I have to accept the fact that the godwoken are apparently retarded and can't see Lucian is an absolute tyrant who only cares about power (as presented in this game at least, I haven't got to the other games yet).

I thought that the last act of the game felt like it was made in a vacuum to everything else and that kind of explains it honestly. It feels like the Lucian bit is tacked on cheaply to make a statement about that character and his role in the series rather than making a satisfying narrative to fit into the series.

OS2's plot and lore feels taken straight from Pillars of Eternity, with the Gods actually being a bunch of super wizards who ascended and then started feeding on the souls of mortals to sustain themselves and their power.

The only people who say that are the retarded pathfinder fans who think Owlcat's shitty writing is any better.

Humans are battery's and Rivelon is in a computer

It's to show how Divinity changes those who claim it.

The worst part is that you can't even kill that whiny bitch Dallis. Fuck her and her daddy issues.

Right but I can kill that bitch no problem so are my characters canonically retarded to side with him instead of taking it and sacrificing themselves to close the veil or even just giving source for all?
