BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME GAME FROM ALWAYS MAKES AND NOBODY LIKES THAT GET MAD GET MAD PLEASE GET MAD

>new IP
>open world
>GRRM is attached to it

That's it.

Cause it's Japanese

What killed the hype?

It's not a bad movie disguised as a game.

Mw2 will kill its legs. No other game of note came out since then

>An over-hyped Developer/Franchise
>A fuck ton of advertising
>Dumbed down and designed to cater to a new audience
>OPEN WORLD
>GRRM's name slapped to the box

There is not one person who unironically believed this game was ever going to flop. From Software could package Miyazaki's turd, and turn a profit by selling it to Gamers™

But I thought new IPs are risky and people only buy things they recognize.

Wouldn't it be funny if horizon btfo'd reddit ring on release

So from what I can tell from this low res image is that zoomers love the colour pink, but you need at minimum a half a line of pink.

Because even with all the reused bosses and animations it still has more effort and soul put into it than any AAA release in the past 10 years

>Open World
>Co-op boss battling
>Pvp
>Marketing
>96 metascore

There you go.

Every new IP in the vein of "souls" by From Software has shattered expectations when it comes to selling units, with the exception of Demons' Souls which took a year of word of mouth to convince people to actually sit through it and play it to completion.

Dark Souls was a commercial success
Dark Souls 2, as much as Any Forums hates it, was a commercial success.
Bloodborne, as much as Any Forums hates it, was a commercial success
Dark Souls 3 was a commercial success
Sekiro was a commercial success and won GOTY.
Elden Ring, despite Any Forums hating on it, is a commercial success and WILL win GOTY this year unless GTA6 or RDR3 is released.

It's a really good game.
Bloodborne was better, but it's still a lot better than any other AAA game from the last 3 years

Already forgotten

>phoneposting
>doesn't know how to make inage fullsized

Sekiro was a flop.

They went for the reddit audience

>walks directly into nintendo's main headquarters
>menacingly approaches the zelda development team
>he sees their lack of interesting bosses, lack of meaningful combat, lack of good art direction
>he instantly slaps them in the faces in disgust
>"start again"
>then he leaves

Metaphorically speaking, this happened, and it scares them.

big fat namco bandai marketing budget. you saw the non stop shilling on here for like 2 straight months

It feels like people only buy these games because they are supposed to as gamers tm.
But Im biased because I dont like them.

It's genuinely one of the worst games to come out of 2022. It legitimately is just an awful game.

Elden Ring isn't even the top 30 best games of all time on metacritic lol. It's over for him.

Normalfag zoomers love watching game streams. The people they watch rave about stuff and they try it.

Lol I can't wait to see fromdrones getting btfo when God of war won again

>God of war
Will get shit on by real games for being movie shit and pozzed. The Callisto Protocol will be the best game in Q4. Cope Sony troon.

I do not think GoW1.5 will sell as well as Elden Ring. Especially since the install base of PS5 everywhere is extremely small in comparison to the PC install base.

Holy based

Anyone on Any Forums who was around for release knows that sekiro absolutely filtered 90% of this board. These retards might have powered through it eventually but i will never forget that

meme

Because I got to invade people and I love griefing shitters. It feels good to show my superiority of others in souls games.

It is, however I 100% guarantee you that if they called the game Dark Souls 4 it wouldn't have sold anywhere near as well as it did.

the whole game is basically a big QTE, i cant fathom why anyone likes it

The interesting this is that elden ring is, on its face, harder than any soulslike before. If you put any elden ring boss in dark souls, you're going to have a really bad time.
But the player is also stronger. A LOT stronger, with so many more tools to use in tandem. The elden ring player character could turn all of dark souls into swiss cheese without breaking a sweat.
So it ends up being a sort of +10 difficulty -20 difficulty. I think the feeling of power attracts people.

Sekero is easy the final bass is the hard part

If they had added PVP to sekiro I might've played and it wouldn't have been such a flop. Too bad single player cucks won out on that one. Atleast I got to eat fresh on elden ring.

Souls games have been mainstream since DS1 it was only a matter of time until one of the entries caught lightning in a bottle and became a commerical juggernaut

GoW will win a ton of GOTY awards just by being the closest released AAA game to award selection/shows, regardless of the quality of the game.

jesus christ snoys have obliterated the meaning of the word "flop"

I personally think its overrated and is worse than even dark souls 2. But whenever i see Any Forums cumming their pants over it i know there is a 90% chance that the user was one of the retards crying about how hard it was
