Venat DID commit genocide. She genocided literally all the ancients aside from Elidibus, Emet-Selch, and Lahabrea.

The game strongly goes out of its way to show that it was the only option. The ancients halved their population to create Zodiark and halt the Final Days, but it left the world in ruins. Instead of trying to make the best of their lives with what remained in the world, the ancients halved their population AGAIN in order to restore the world immediately. Their preferred solution to hardship was to keep killing themselves instead of dealing with it, and that's not a stable situation. The Plenty specifically showed how a civilization like theirs would eventually end itself in mass suicide.

The problem is that it's really easy to go "but what if Venat told them such-and-such" or "but what if Venat did X, Y, or Z" or whatever. The game tries to communicate that this wouldn't work, that the events that unfolded were really the best the ancients (including Venat) could've done. However, it's just something that you, as the player, are supposed to accept, rather than something demonstrated more explicitly. Some players, therefore, don't accept it. They think that Venat could have and should have done differently, to the point that they think that she's evil and that the game is wrong for not presenting her as such.

She then became Hydaelyn and sundered the world because a bunch of weak humans who die after 80 years were better equipped to deal with the threat than immortal gods who could create whatever they wanted at will. Except the only “human” that could actually stand up to Meteion was 9/14ths of our good friend Azem who also needed Hydaelyns blessing to survive along with my great-grandson Zenos Viator Galvus who had Hydaelyns blessing too, except his was reverse-engineered in a Garlean laboratory. And he was a good friend.

Both Zero and Barbariccia are astonishingly gorgeous. I don't know if a different artist/modeler/whatever got put in charge of their design or what, but Christ I think they both have the fucking prettiest faces I've ever seen in a video game.

People were originally saying she was using a male Viera face, but on closer look its a purely new custom one so they clearly are getting better at making npcs.
She also uses a female Midlander body if you use Anamnesis to load her appearance, but male animations I believe.
