Which Might and Magic game is the best and why?
You can start with 4&5 if you don't mind the DOS stuff but 6 or 7 is very good too. I started with 6 and loved it
6 and 7 are best
>Purchase M&M 8 on gog.com
>Then install the super mod that injects m&m 6 and 7 into m&m 8
>Then play 6, 7, and 8 sequentially in the same game
This is the most kino experience
Then enjoy Heroes of Might and Magic V because it's the best one
celestialheavens.com
This might be the link I haven't done it in a while
6 7 and 8 with the mod
this link is better
gitlab.com
also as an added bonus, have this
gog-games.com
M&M 3 Isles of Terra is honestly the best starting point. Great big world with a lot of variety but with a very manageable difficulty compared to most 90s dungeon crawler. Other than the graphics it's a very modern feeling game, in a good way.
plays like shit though
>Which Might and Magic game is the best and why?
Find out yourself.
>Which one would you recommend starting with?
The first one.
Is this an 8 people party? Or 6 people +2 for those mini bonuses?
you haven't played the first one
why talk about games you don't even know?
>the first one
lol
lmao
>plays like shit though
I don't know why you'd say that. Combat is very breezy for a dungeon crawler and the game's focus is more on exploration than fighting. If you're saying it's bad because it's not real-time like 6-8, I don't see that as a downside because the grid system and lack of respawning monsters lets you breeze through previously explored areas much faster than in later games, and the combat in 3 is much better balanced than the FPS arrow flinging mess that the later games usually become.
>Is this an 8 people party? Or 6 people +2 for those mini bonuses?
6 person party and 2 hirelings that can be found in towns. Some of them are useful in the early game for the extra skills your party members won't have yet but usually the hirelings aren't worth the money unless you can get a cheap one for the extra inventory space.
>The first one.
Secret of the Inner Sanctum is pretty difficult but very ahead of its time. If you have the patience to grind your way out of Sorpigal then it's actually a pretty good game. The interface is fucking shit though so you have to either emulate the Mac version or get an automapper for the DOS version like WhereAreWe.
>you can't just start a series at the start of the series, you have to play the one I started with as a kid
This is how you get people who say they are into a series but never played half of the mainline entries, because their "outdated" or a Youtuber said they were bad.
You haven't played it.
Me hungry. Anyone else?
I don't remember the exact lines, but the ones shopkeepers would say if you left without buying anything always made me chuckle
The first and and second are pretty fun with the where are we program that auto maps and pops up spell names for you, but you have to be able to tolerate older feeling games. Still the spell system is no joke and it's refreshing to have spells that actually fucking do something instead of bouncing off of everything like in final fantasy.
>you haven't played a game that is available for free online and was ported to a million different easily emulated systems
There is very little I can really do to prove to you otherwise but it wouldn't be hard to take my word for it if you aren't a fucking zoomie that can't fathom playing a pre-1990 CRPG because a youtuber hasn't given them the OK. I'm not saying you have to beat it, just try it and if you don't like it then move on to the next entry.
>Still the spell system is no joke and it's refreshing to have spells that actually fucking do something instead of bouncing off of everything like in final fantasy
Haven't played the first ones, but yeah I wish more games let you just fly through the air while throwing meteor showers down on your enemies and stuff like that.
Sleep actually works and allows you to fuck up 6 enemies at once. It's great.
No it doesn't.
was also my starting point, I couldn't get into 1 & 2, these games are just too old, I didn't try every available port though. I quit during the first two hours of IX, what a shit game, at least X was fun.
