Input Reading in Elden Ring

Does it really matter whether the game AI reads your input at 0ms, or the first animation frame (16.6ms)? I don't think so; it is unfair in both cases. The game should have a reaction time more like 150-200ms which is still better than humans.

I played astrologer on my first playthrough and the only useful spell I found for killing things was Magic Glintblade, which still relied on gaming this poorly designed animation frame 1 mechanic. They'd roll when I casted a few and then tank the actual magic bolt coming for them. It is honestly retarded.

How is this acceptable? Why didn't gaming journalists point this out on release?

i love watching bilibili clips, they always have the most random gifs playing in the corner

>point this out
for what reason would you cast spells to a completely opposite direction and why is them dodging your attacks a bad thing?
Do you actually want your opponents to be braindead dummies that stand still and eat all of your spells and arrows?
If it was a human opponent, they would dodge as well, but with an even higher success rate

You're making it into this huge issue that is maybe 0,01% of the entire game, I played the game 100% through, 150 hours and I can only remember 3 or so instances where it was quite annoying that the opponent would do predictable retaliations based on my actions, and two of those were Crucible Knights and Godskin Apostles and the rest were some random mobs that posed no threat because I would just swing my sword and they'd die on 2 hits, why keep casting 15 times on an enemy that dodges every cast, when you could just swing once or twice?

This is like finding one texture glitch in a game and writing off the entire game as bad.
Are these bot posts or actually braindead people?

The only retard here is you. Do not post again.

he is casting spells in random directions to prove the system is retarded, kek. I am fine with them dodging and rolling, but to do so on frame 1 isn't fair.

People are lifting up elden ring like it's God's greatest gift to mankind but it has the dumbest input reading I've seen on all the gaming. Fromdrones are fucking delusional.

>no retort
Concession accepted.
it is retarded, but just annoying, not gamebreaking because you have 101 other tools to deal with the situatio, not brainlessly spam spells until one hits, or do you prefer opponents that stand still? Dark Souls 1 and 2 were exactly this, where enemies had obvious telegraphed attacks and stood still 90% of the time. You just want to hit target dummies, admit it.
The webms you see have literally all the enemies in the entire game that does such input reading, you're crying about 5 or 6 mobs out of +140.
As an overall experience, the game is fun, you're writing it off entirely based on these input reading webms, you are the delusional one here and incapable of honest discussion.

>The game should have a reaction time more like 150-200ms which is still better than humans.
which would make them easily defeatable because AIs are extremely retarded
the question you should be asking is if you want to be playing a game against cheating bots, having to learn their exact attack and movement patterns to win

Thats not even input reading you mong

>disobeying a direct order
Leave the thread at once. You have been humiliated and cannot save face.

What is it, then?

The only retort here is you. Do not post again.

Are you disabled?

Animation reading that the devs didn't bother making account for the direction the player was facing

Is that functionally any different apart from input reading? no human can notice the difference between frame 0 and frame 1.

Functionally, not really. But on a technical it's no different from any other game that has enemies respond to player actions. From just made the reaction time really tight because PREPARE TO DIE LMAO

>ITS NOT INPUT READING
>ITS ACTUALLY READING THE ANIMATION THAT PLAYS DIRECTLY AFTER YOUR INPUT
r u ok?

Yes? You that like they're the same thing when they're literally not

bandai namco marketing budget

Name one (1) Fromsoft game since Dark Souls 1 that doesn't use input reading.

I could explain that if you try to make AI track every projectile and try to calculate its type, size and trajectory, it would take like 50 times more effort and processing power compared to simply having AI react to a generic projectile creation event, so it's a nice solution that works good enough in most situations unless you go out of your way and start doing dumb shit, and it also motivates players to try finding different strategies and tools at their dispersal to defeat certain enemies.
But you will probably disregard it and throw some buzzwords calling me a fromdrone, and spout some horseshit about ER being universally liked and therefore it must be prefect in every way.
So I will content myself with calling you a retard who spent more time trying to shit on this game on anonymous anime forum than most players actually playing it.

This was my first souls game so I can't do that. But given what I experienced with this, I am unimpressed

Man I wish I could get godskin apostles to do that. They always just rush me down regardless, even if I don't touch anything.

This would be easily fixed if enemies read flask healing when the flask is actually out not frame 1 of the flask animation. It really makes it feels fake for a lack of a better word.
