How tactics games should treat monsters:
Lower stat growth/Less abilities to learn
Higher starting stats/ Higher max stats /More focused to their role/specialized units
Larger units take up maybe a 2x2 tile, allowing AoE effects to hit them multiple times. Also makes them less mobile and able to fit into areas.

Divinity 2 also let you transform into a dragon but it was so restrictive about it that it didn't feel very great.
