Retards have already accepted Advent Children, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, and now they've even accepted Kingdom Hearts bullshit and a battle against the actual concept of fate itself.
It appears that certain fans will just eat up literally anything no matter how bad it gets as long as FF7 is in the title. So please, make it worse. I want to know what the breaking point is, because right now it seems like there isn't one.
Is there anything bad enough that would make these people say "okay, this sucks" because I truly believe there's no bar low enough to make these people let go.

I got the opposite impression. Despite the fact that there ARE things to criticize FFVIIR for, those points (e.g. needing to play the arm-crane minigame every time one replays the respective chapter, bosses resetting their topple gauge on phase-change, same or sometimes even worse English localization issues compared to the OG, etc.) are only very rarely brought up at all.
Instead I only see non-descriptive and/or overgeneralized one-liners being brought up that tell you next to nothing about what is supposedly bad.

Same. Just finished my 4th playthrough.

The fourth one was with the release of the steam version, so was starting again from scratch. Gonna do hard mode next starting at level 38 without maxed materia, not sure how that will go but we'll see.

OG FF 7 is a mediocre game that got lucky 'cause it released after Akira and DBZ and has nice FMV, FF7R is just shit

The yuffie DLC proved this to be 100% correct.
At this point the only thing that would make the fanboys walk away is Tifa hooking up with Barret or something. The story can be as terrible as possible and they'll still buy it, but threaten their ship fantasies and they riot.

That's actually part of the point Nojima was making though. It doesn't really matter one way or another for those who entered the FFVII-franchise with FFVIIR, but those who played OG FFVII and still have concrete memories of their last playthrough SHOULD notice changes. I remember a lot of complains about the elevator in Mako Reactor 1 at the beginning of Remake to not look cyberpunkish, but that was THE POINT. Likewise with the bomb not being enough to destroy the Reactor. You are supposed to pick up on the fact that Midgar in the Remake is actually much more modern and bigger than OG Midgar. For example Cloud falling down to Aerith's church after the Airbuster fight actually caused Cloud to die and had to be revived by the timejannies because Remake Midgar's plate height is 300m while OG Midgar only had 50m plate height.
These hints and nudges culminate in the most significant two changes that interestingly enough the timejannies did absolutely nothing to prevent:
1. Midgar has higher-tech in Remake and is much more developed from the very time of its construction.
2. But in turn Shinra's additional efforts in building up Midgar cost them the victory against Wutai, who Shinra had to make a ceasefire with in the end, completely different to the OG where Shinra actually won the war and turned Wutai into a demilitarized tourism nation.
These two points in turn make something else very evident: President Shinra, at least in the past, seemed to have favored Reeve more and Heidegger/Scarlet less, than he did in the OG.
It's sad that so few people actually LOOK at the games, and what changed here, but instead can only spout memey one-liners with no critical or analytical thought whatsoever. I thought 4chins was only for adults and not for underaged?
But maybe that's just the gamers in general. The only one who I saw put some proper in-depth critical thought into the game was the "German autist" CosmoCanyonObservatory.
