>“We want the world, especially the younger generation, to play the game,” Yoshida said, claiming that many players in their late teens and late twenties have heard of the Final Fantasy series but never played it.
>“Also, the mainstream games nowadays are intuitive games where you press a button and the character shoots a gun or wields a sword, and the traditional RPG style of turn-based command fighting is no longer familiar to them.
>“It is also a fact that people are becoming less familiar with the old-fashioned style of RPGs, where you fight by selecting turn commands. That’s why the battles in Final Fantasy 16 are very action-based. We want to make people all over the world think that Final Fantasy is a great game.
>“Of course, I don’t think we’ll be able to satisfy everyone’s demands, so I’ve told everyone on the team that the first thing we need to do is to make something we think is fun, and make sure it reaches the people who like it.”
I miss when final fantasy experimented with gameplay. I hate the gambit system but at least they were trying something. Now it’s a copy of WoW, or a rip-off of Witcher. They’re actively aiming for mediocrity now.

imagine actually saying something like this, as a game director, before releasing the game. is yoshida fucking retarded? holy fuck

Yoshida shitsniffers claim his honesty and openness is what makes him better than other devs
Joshua Flores
Yoshida has been shittalking his own game and by extension the FF series for a while now user,
Really seems like he doesn't have faith in his own product. Maybe there's a good reason for that

Chocobos always have been autistic, but they look a little too realistic. They need to be more stylised and cute. As mucha s people hate FFXIII, it had cute chocobos.
Final Fantasy combat was never that good. ATB stinks. People liked FF for the story, production values, music, CGI cutscenes, etc. Other jrpgs had better combat, like Grandia, Shadow Hearts, Legend of Legaia, Tales, etc.
At least with FF16 I don't imagine they'll make the same mistakes as with FFXV combat. I wish they'd have another game with LR combat youtu.be/9ENVk0AHGpk

Turn based autists are the jrpg equivalent of Melee players. They just can not move on, no matter what.
Aiden Davis
>Final Fantasy combat was never that good Final fantasy 10 is the only JRPG combat system worth a damn.
Luke Murphy
I stuck with FF till 15. It was the first time I really felt like this was not an FF game. I mean I played it an dhad fun with it, but it just didn't feel like FF anymore.
Ethan Bailey
I hope it's good, but this feels like "We want the Call of Duty audience" all over again
Squeenix can't make good actions games. They haven't made a good one since kh2

XIVfag here, allow me to translate the Yoshidaspeak >“We want the coomers, especially the younger generation, to play the game,” Yoshida said, claiming that many players in their late teens and late twenties have heard of the Final Fantasy series but never jerked off to a single Viera. >“Also, mainstream games nowadays have complicated combat systems, which is hard to implement. >“It is also a fact that people are becoming less familiar with the old-fashioned style of RPGs, where you fight by selecting turn commands. That’s why all combat actions will be relegated to a single button due to controller limitations. We want to make people all over the world think that Final Fantasy is a great game. >“Of course, I don’t think we’ll be able to satisfy everyone’s demands, so I’ve told everyone on the team that the first thing we need to do is ignore all inconvenient feedback, and make sure the fanbase religiously defends it.”

Nice try nathan we all know you spam gore when you get btfo and now you're falsflagging
This is the direction Square should've taken 10 years ago when games started becoming obscenely expensive to produce Focus on individual AA titles that cater to the multitude of different audiences you've accumulated by doing experimental shit with FF for over 20 years. Instead they kept doing the one-size-fits-all "broad appeal" spectacle with no substance with XV and 7R and it's clearly not paying off for them. Mobile kusoge is literally the only thing keeping them afloat.

incorrect take on what's being said
Owen Taylor
Who even buys a final fantasy game anymore? I hardly even see that many threads on Any Forums that much about ff given how big the series supposedly is
Colton Davis
>and not like the fucking autistic giant chickens from XIV You say that like it's a bad thing.
