He does feel tired and useless in this one, but it was because there was literally nothing left to do with his character. His arc was done in 3. And 4 just kinda sealed with with him finding some family he could connect with.

Vergil coming back is the entire reason Dante even goes after Urizen in the first place. It's literally the thing that kickstarts Dante's journey in this game.
Yea, except they failed to make it resonate on any emotional level at all. Dante literally doesn't give a shit when he find out Virgil is alive. There is no emotional reaction. The same way Nero doesn't react to finding out virgil is his dad, just stares at the floor. And Virgil doesn't react to finding out he has a son, just "wow that was a long time ago". Worst fucking writing team imaginable
