Why are there no more autistic geniuses pushing game development into the future anymore?

Why are there no more autistic geniuses pushing game development into the future anymore?

There are but those usually are indie devs like the factorio dude. Otherwise, if you're going to work in a corporate environment might aswell go in another industry since game dev has stress, you're treated like trash and wages are smaller compared to devops or other types of jobs

Game development is far too big a task in the modern era to be influenced by a single person to the point where their impact is noticable

Because publishers have the devs by the balls.

All I want in my lifetime is for Romero and Carmack to get back together one last time to make a doom 2 megawad

Games got too big and expensive. They are now made by gigantic, multi-national conglomerates comprising of many studios. In Carmack's time, each game had a particular "flavor" to it. Autistic geniuses aren't ideal for making games with a wide appeal.

Well, we have Yoko Taro...

Autistic deviants like Carmack become trannies instead of focusing their energy into something productive.
It's true, look it up.

It was always fake. We are simply at the end of the narrative.

He didn't do anything other than encourage people to mod games which gave us the abomination that is Skyrim.

there is one still

Talented engine programmers still exists. But gaming is so normie these days that technical details aren't interesting to them. "Does it have good graphics" and "is it optimized" is as far as they will go.

Seems like an obvious thing for them to do and an incredible missed opportunity given how long it has been. There's still hope. Romero put out Sigil for Doom 1. Maybe they'll get together and do one for Doom 2 soon...

what is there to push that isn't being pushed? we have raytracing in games, even on consoles.

carmack figured out the 3rd dimension for videogames. that's about it for humans.

jews just like yes men who will make the most dumbed down goyslop games and fill them to the brim with propaganda.
Autistic geniuses aren't a good fit.

Game development is no more complicated than most movies, and they have directors with a singular vision.

>Why are there no more autistic geniuses pushing game development into the future anymore?
they can be easily outsourced to PhDs at local universities. nobody gives a fuck about aspies and their dumb algorithms outside of the retards at Any Forums. Carmack and his kin see video games as nothing more than code and skillful button presses. hence when all the GOOD game designers left ID the games he worked on were dogshit (unless you were really impressed by fucking lighting or textures) and when he left ID became GOOD again.

they're all easily disposable monkeys. the end. you cant replace good game designers.

being obsessive with some obscure bullshit doesn't indicate genius either:). rather a dysfunctional tard.

goback2doomposting about automation and take your ugly AI art with you dipshit.

AAA games take about 6 years to make nowadays compare it to 1 and half for you average marvel trash

Was he really all that impressive though?
Geograph Seal, the predecessor to Jumping Flash, came out before Doom
youtube.com/watch?v=qca_bXtxIe4
Even on IBM PCs you had games like Alone In The Dark doing real 3D as opposed to the fake 2.5D that Doom was pulling off
Later on Descent came out before Quake and was way way more impressive
If you're looking for truly pushing the future of gaming Virtua Racing was released before Wolfenstein 3D

Anybody else noticed how weaselly he acted when Lex asked him why he fired Romero?

this

SIGGRAPH was just last week. go look in there once they make slides public, and see out some of the incredibly intricate and complicated advances being pushed by some of the smartest autists in the industry.

the problem is that the same amount of autistic work that got you from 2.5D worlds to 3D worlds in 1996, is now required just to get one incidental feature in one game (e.g. fancy cloud rendering, realtime global illumination, meshlet texture streaming, whatever). the difference in scale is so enormous it is impossible to communicate unless you've been living in it for long enough

this is part of why carmack left for VR, and then for AI. there was limited interest, and enough low hanging fruit that one determined sperg could overturn the entire field. you just can't do that in games anymore

A genius would know not to get in to game development

culture is shit and an autist would be eaten alive also the pay is below shit

Yes because Doom was the first instance where you could make the argument that 3D graphics could be fast enough for action games. Before that everyone just assumed 3D graphics were slow and could only ever be used for turn based games or prerendered graphics.

Because he knew he was 100% in the wrong.

Then why is John Carmack still singlehandedly influencing the industry

Carmack didnt even give a shit about video games he just wanted to code and be paid well for it

The same reason why there's no another one Einstein nowadays
