Wrong, the problem isn't growing jaded and depressed as you get older. The problem is the failure to realize that video games at their core are generally made for people in the 5 - 23 age demographic and tend to recycle most of their ideas from established games.

There are still lots of great games, but once you hit your late 20's/early 30's most people get picky about what they play. The typical generic AAA open world game might be fun when you're 13, but once you get older it starts feeling trite and "been there, done that". For video games to remain fun you need to accept that like 95% of them are all generic shit you shouldn't waste your time with. As you get older you start being able to identity what games actually have an unique voice and which don't.
