I guess, try playing a game you already know well but in french
Monster Hunter 4 taught me a little bit
Je suis un diccsuccér
I did this with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Sky and I learnt quite a bit from it. I knew the story well and there's a lot of text. It was mostly turns of phrase and the occasional word I picked up because I was already somewhat competent at French at the time.
Of course. That's how I learnt unironically english, because Disgaea DS wasn't translated to french.
Yes. Such immersion is a great way to start. I would say it is the next best thing to being dropped into the country of your choosing.
As this user said. Take a game you enjoy and set the language to French. This way you will quickly learn common words with a familiar context. I also recommend setting your system language to French. Just remember not to stagnate. You must inevitably start speaking the language with a native speaker in order to master it.
why?
french will be extinct in your lifetime.
If I can do it with japanese videogames and mangas, surely you can do it with french as well
Although I don't know much videogames (besides Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman, Little Big Adventure among a few others) that would really put in practice your french proficiency unlike japanese or english.
Lol how so?
je suis monté
Here's how I learned English, should work with French too:
>lay the foundation with something like duolingo
>consume tons of french media (or media in french)
>chat with native speakers once you're confident enough. you WILL make a lot of mistakes and probably be ridiculed for it since french people are assholes, but don't let that discourage you
>voila
>arabic replaces french as the national language
>china invades europe
>pootin loses his mind and nukes major world powers out of existence
pick one
or all of them really, doesn't matter
Too many Sub-Saharan niggers in France for Arabic to work. French will stay as their lingua franca.
>you WILL make a lot of mistakes and probably be ridiculed for it since french people are assholes
ackshually a lot of frenchies actually appreciate it when you make a genuine effort to speak french, it tickles their patriotic boner (as long as you're not talking to achmed) and a lot of them are deathly afraid of sounding terrible when they speak foreign languages which is a big contributing factor to why they respect people who are good at it
Is that why they absolutely refuse to speak English when asked
No. The reason is
>les americains sont... LE MAL!
Just play spy in TF2

Not sure if it can help you but I really like Julien Bardakoff's french translations. He was the translator on a lot of nintendo titles back in the 90s (most notably zelda OOT and pokemon first two gens). They're easy and fun to read, also pretty soulful.
Fun fact: Nintendo altered the french version of OOT3D because on the N64 the carpet salesman in the desert talked in a stereotypical arabic fashion.
with Adibou maybe.
Why French sounds so nice compared to English?
